Ideas to Play?
« on: June 04, 2017, 02:45:05 PM »
Hi everybody:

I just need advice on playing.

Lately, i am feeling all over the place as far as playing sims. i have 2, 3 and 4 and i really want to play. but lately, i feel as soon as i load the game, i start saying to myself. eck. i am not sure i wanna keep going. i do the same type of gameplay each time. my sim is a writer or artist. i have tried other careers but didnt really care for them.i have all expansion packs and i know there is so much to do in sims 3, and i really love this series more than the other 2 so i can't put my finger on why i am starting to feel like this. thanks for any advice or help you can give

I go through stages with the game. I can go weeks/months hardly playing at all, then I can go weeks/months playing for hours when I get the chance. It helps me to have several types of game files going. I usually have one legacy style game with rules and a points system, one "free for all" style game where I can be god and do whatever I want, and a build save where I'm not actually playing, just building/reworking homes and lots.

Usually between the three files, there's something I want to play. You might want to go have a look at the challenges boards and see if anything catches your eye.

Thanks so much for your reply. i actually checked out some of the challenges but for some reason i don't think they appeal to me. 100 baby challenges and such. i was thinking maybe i ought to play some pre-mades and continue their stories help them make it to their lifetime wish so right now i am going from world to world and reading their backstory to see if i wanna play some of them.  i kind of like george dean of riverview. and constance shelly. i also am fond of lucky perkins all from riverview. and my favorite sim (pre-made) is rich richmond of starlight shores. will probably just play some of them for a little while till i can come up with an idea for a sim i create.

thanks again! if you think of anything fun will you think of me and send me an email?

have a great day!

I'm on the downward slope of my own challenge, which is to get rich without using a single simoleon cheat. I made her a werewolf, with the gatherer trait, saved all her simoleons, and invested in all the local businesses. If you have Seasons, it's a little easier, because of picking and selling wildflowers.

That might be a way to make the game fun. Or you could try and get a male character pregnant with an alien baby.

hi there;

thanks for your reply. right now i am playing a video game developer. i didn't send my sim to college, but i use the nerd lifetime points and he was offered the job that way. it's fun for me. he lives in monte vista and i am having a good time playing him so far. will miss playing because i will be leaving on my trip this weekend so no sims for a whole week! maybe while i am away, i will come up with some cool ideas for gameplay. i kind of want to have more than one saved game going, in case i get bored playing one game, i can switch to the other, but i can't think of anything at the moment to do. i tried the supernaturals, but that just doesn't appeal to me. all i really get are zombies at evening and one werewolf that doesn't even bite anyone. lol

happy simming!

You can eliminate the zombie problem by setting the moon to a non-full status permanently. If you want to make the fairies constantly  miserable, station it at the new moon.  :P

For an idea of game play, if you don't mind some of the careers, some rabbit holes and some Ambitions careers, there is an Apocalypse challenge that takes in all of them. It's your choice for which type of careers (standard or ambitions style) you choose for each generation. There are also some bonus pt challenges to do in addition to the main challenge. It can be quite difficult at first, but gets easier w/each generation.  Here is the wiki page:

https://ts3ac.wikispaces.com/TS3AC

and here is the facebook group where we talk about it and are currently getting ready for a tourney starting July 1st.

The challenge that got me back into actually playing the game when building finally got old was to play a homeless sim. There are a few different homeless challenges out there. Something about forcing your sim to only collect stuff, making friends while being stinky, dumpster dive, and grow his food kinda kickstarted playing for me at the time.

Hi @Peanuts61

I, too, enjoy playing townies and work on their individual stories and wishes - or perhaps rewrite them or even create chaos. I also love to explore genetics and "crossbreed" the Sims. After all, there are no ethics or moral standards you need to follow when playing The Sims. I'm one to take advantage of that :)

Happy gaming!
