Still have vanilla pudding face despite mods
« on: May 17, 2017, 11:41:42 AM »
Hi guys,

New to this forum  (so if I'm posting in the wrong place or something then apologies!) although I've been playing the sims since the very first one.

Having some trouble with immigration in The Sims 3...

I'm only on my first generation and my  town is FULL of vanilla pudding faced sims (generic face usually seen on NPC's) I've tried everything! I've got Twallan's story progression mod and have the settings on chance of simbin offspring and chance of random offspring both on 50. I've got my immigration gauge down to 0 and also have the register mod and have been turning immigration on and off on there with no obvious change. All of the sims in the high school are the same vanilla face and also pretty much every sim I see in town. It's so frustrating, and as someone who loves playing with genetics, it almost makes me want to give up on the game entirely as my next gen aren't going to have a diverse choice of townies to breed with. I've heard of Awesomemod helping with this but am wary of using too many mods as I don't want a laggy game. I also don't want to go through the effort of installing another mod unless I know for certain it will work. Can anybody give me some advice with this? Thanks!  ;D

I had to do a little searching on how to fix this, but it sounds fairly easy to "fix". Like you mentioned Nraas StoryProgression helps. As do other mods.

What you'll want to do is add some custom made Sims into the game. Either by downloading some or creating them yourself in Create a Sim. Using the various sliders and other options. Place them in your Sim Bin.

If I'm correct, you can set up Nraas SP to take genetics from the Sim Bin instead of taking default "pudding faces". -- This you may need to ask about over at Nraas's site. As I'm not familiar with their SP mod. - http://nraas.wikispaces.com/Chatterbox

Thanks for your reply.

I've just had a look at their forum and there are some other suggestions that I will try now. Fingers crossed.  :)

I'm pretty sure that by default SP immigration is added to EA immigration and that the immigration gauge must be changed to override EA immigration. I've never tried it though, because there are too many supernaturals and especially werewolves in my bin, and the whole town would be hairy and howling in no time if I tried SP immigration LOL ! I hope that you find how to let new sims immigrate, I agree pudding faces are boring. Personally, I randomize them all in CAS until they look decent but it requires so much patience.

I've changed the settings to Random offspring 0 and Bin offspring to 100 and tweaked the register setting and have noticed an instant difference in NPC's. But like you mentioned, I have one fairy in my sim bin and now everybody seems to be a fairy! I'm not too sure how the immigration gauge works, so I've bumped it up to 10 instead of 0 but nobody seems to be moving in still. I guess it's going to take a lot of trial and testing before I figure this out, as I'm not accustomed to mods  ::)
