Okay, first of all, LOVE Joaquin's new look! :)

Yuki Behr really is a very pretty sim, isn't she?

That's a very cute toddler room. As long as all the sims don't simultaneously decide that the toddler bed is the best seat in the house, you should be fine?

Joaquin is a great sim to have at parties, hey? I know it's unconventional, but I'm sure he'll make a great helper!

Pau Hana looks awesome! Shame about all the slim pickings for the staff options. :(

Niche Nerds in Newcrest: Week 4 chez Murasaki Mori, Part IV (03/01)
« Reply #181 on: March 01, 2017, 05:53:21 AM »
@FrancescaFiori
I'm really too sad about the whole Candy/Liberty & Shota/Travis travesty. *weeps tears of blood
Since each heir needs to be good friends with the founder, though, I'm thinking Shota will be visiting. I'm too paranoid to let Murasaki and Sergio visit that house!
Both Joaquin and Sergio have been total champs in the skilling department.

LOL, poor Sergio gets overshadowed by Mossimo!!! But yeah, Massimo going up and down the stairs then making eyes at Moss each time he walked by was pretty funny. Moss made some great faces, too!

And you know that if I ever did a second RDC and choose an alien bloodline, I'll be struggling to find alien spouses!!!
I'm happy you like Pau Hana. Hope you get a kick out of the uniforms, lol. If you don't, it's okay, cuz I like them.  :D

@wfgodot
Yes, of course. You are very welcome for the marriage, hehe.
Joaquin says: "Thanks for the compliment…I think."
The caterer was actually kneeling in preparation to use one of those party twirlers because, ever since City Living, my sims do birthday celebration stuff whenever someone cuts a wedding cake.
I enjoyed building the restaurant itself but have run out of ideas for the ground-floor landscaping. Or maybe I'm just lazy…
And I'll consider hiring the living status as our second waitperson, just for you. Do you think she'll wear that cowboy hat with her hula skirt?

@Alex
I'm glad you like the restaurant. I started out with fencing around the patio but replaced it with half walls so I could place paintings to boost the environment rating. I wish I was better at planning…
Tamari finally finished by writing a song for the digital keyboard. It was cool that, instead of sheet music, he got some kind "digital composition" thingy in his inventory.
Alex, this RDC challenge can move very quickly and requires a lot of building. I think it's right up your alley!

@Whirligig
Since your Morven founder, Rose, was married to Joaquin, you've played him so much longer than I have! So I'm very happy that you approve of his makeover. :D
He seems happy with his new life--he mostly paints or dances.
About Pau Hana, I wish I were better with landscaping. I think the restaurant should look densely lush and tropical, but I've been too lazy to use MOO to cram the greenery together.
When I get it looking more like I want it, the Gen3 heir will be ready to move out, anyway. *rationalizes my laziness
At least now I know to just let Murasaki hang on to the restaurant so other households can visit.

Week 4 with Murasaki Mori, Part IV

Thursday

Sergio: I'm excited about Pau Hana's grand opening today but these uniforms?
Tamari: Relax, Sergio! This is so much more comfortable than those butler suits!

Murasaki: Argh, my back is killing me. I'm not sure a grass skirt is the best look for me right now!
Chana: At least you don't have to wear these coconut shells. I'm feeling at risk!

Murasaki: From afar, you can see that the ground floor is in dire need of landscaping.
Sergio: We need an underground room, too, for idle adults to chill and the young'uns to do homework and skill.

Murasaki: Tamari and Sergio swiftly boost those initial three-star reviews to four stars. Way to go, guys!
Tamari: Oh please, it's Summer's table!

Waitress: Are you dining alone, sir?
Dominic Fyre: No, my dining companion will return soon. I'll order for the both of us.
That's right, Marcus! Get your 4-star butt back to Pau Hana!

Murasaki: We're not sure if boosting the environment of the kitchen helps the quality of the chef's cooking.
But it shows our support for the staff and also increases Pau Hana's resale value.

Murasaki: We're all glad you decided to come back to the restaurant, Marcus. But would you get out of the way, please?
Travis's review fell back to 3 stars when the waitress dropped their food, so I want to offer them complimentary drinks.

Chana: I'm in the background, reading up on Vampire Lore in my downtime…

Sergio: Yes, you're welcome, Murasaki! Here's your first five-star reviews!

Diner: So, what did you think of the food, Summer?
Summer: Who cares? Our waiters are total hunks!
Murasaki (sighs): Tamari's single so he's fine, but maybe I should ask Sergio wear a tank top?

Tamari: What are you so excited about over here by yourself, Sergio?
Sergio: Did you just hear that? Those two biddies called me a hunk and Murasaki got jealous! *squees
Tamari: And…?
Sergio: I think my "always a bridesmaid, never a bride" days are over!

Tamari: Dude, shouldn't it be "always a groomsman, never a groom"? Cuz you know you've never been a bridesmaid!
Sergio: Details, details! And anyway, the 1925 Listerine mouthwash ad that started the idiom uses "bride"!

Gia the waitress: You have 460 perk points now. Why not hire a second waiter?
Murasaki: Because I'm saving up for an additional chef which costs 700 points.
After that, I'll hire a second waiter. Don't worry, it shouldn't take long. Next shift, definitely!
Gia: Sounds good!
Murasaki: By the way, you wanna stop by the house and meet our closet?
I'm not really feeling the buzzcut with the coconut shells, you know what I mean?

Something new: The night before, I had Murasaki repeatedly hire/fire the restaurant staff at first to check out the available pool.
Every sim/alien that she fired now dislikes her and has a red friendship bar. Lesson learned. :-(

Murasaki: Autonomous shoulder massage? Yes, please! Have I told you lately how much I love you, Sergio?
Sergio: Only twice since noon, but who's counting?

Murasaki: I'm sorry, but I've decided that I don't like Travis, and not only because of his thing with Papa.
First, Travis skips out without paying. And he doesn't leave his 4-star review, either.
Then, he has the nerve to come back for his complimentary drink. What a jerk!
(Actually, he never drank it but did keep his friend from leaving. Still a jerk!)

Murasaki: Travis and friend take so long to leave that the dinner crowd starts arriving at 5 pm.
I don't want to tire out my staff, so I close the restaurant with 710 perk points.
As you can see, our rating rose to 2 stars. Not bad for our opening day!

Darn it, after closing Pau Hana, I discover that a second chef costs 750 points! Oh well.
But at this rate, we can hire both a second chef and a second waiter next time!

Sergio: Hello, is this Dr. Ferhat of Cut-N-Gut Health? Murasaki Mori's water has just broken.
I'm phoning to inform you that I'm taking her to the hospital right away.

Dr. Ferhat: Is this her first child?

Sergio: No, you idiot! This is her husband speaking! The baby hasn't been born yet!

Murasaki (after going for a microwave pastry): Yes, that's right. The doctor's expecting us.
By the way, have you seen my husband? He's got brown hair and is wearing a striped t-shirt?
Receptionist: Oh yeah, I saw a brunette with bedroom eyes head for the delivery room a few minutes ago.

Murasaki: Oh there you are, darling! Wow, you're writing another novel? You're so diligent!
Sergio: Yep, that's me! Paragon of diligence, always writing my novels!

Murasaki: Meet the next heir, Hiroshi Mori! Oh dear, he looks a bit unhappy!

Sergio: I can't believe that I'm a father! I mean, a real father!
And much to our surprise, Murasaki gives birth to twins. Meet Akira!

Murasaki: Wow, why isn't Akira fussing like Hiroshi?
Sergio: Because Akira's with me?

The twins' names reflect the fact that the Mori bloodline are all foodie geeks.
Our firstborn is named for Hiroshi Tamaki, the new Chairman of Iron Chef for its 2012 comeback in Japan. Everyone's seen the original Iron Chef, right?
Our second son is named for Akira Hayama from Watchette's currently fave manga "Food Wars." Akira excels in the use of spices when cooking.
If you're a foodie, this manga is a must-read (its anime version is also fantastic).

Sergio: Back at home, we feed our boys for the first time. That's Hiroshi with me.
Murasaki: I ask you, readers, does Sergio have the look of a sim who hates children?
So does that mean the Hates Children trait only affects toddlers and children, but not nooboos?

Friday

Tamari: Last night, after the nooboos arrive, I find the cowplant has matured.  Impeccable timing!
I placed it in the basement with a stereo because I heard cowplants would dance.
Lo and behold, I discover my cowplant waving its head to pop music this morning! It's so cute! A screenshot scarcely does it justice!
Please try this at home!

Saturday

I am really struggling with this 20x15 lot. Here's the current state of the rooftop, whether you wanted to see it or not, lol.
Notice that I've had to, once again, lock up the woodworking table!

Murasaki: The twins age up to toddlers at night!  That's the Gen3 heir Hiroshi with lavender hair.
Sergio: Brother Akira has white hair like his manga namesake.

Murasaki: We have them both start out by watching everybody. Both boys have dear Sergio's slightly darker skintone.

Sergio: I think Akira might have my Romeo lips rather than Murasaki's Behr rosebud lips.
In these solo shots of the boys, they really look a lot like me, I think.

Murasaki: The Mori's are batting a 1,000 for violet eyes so far! Both boys seem to be preparing to grow Papa's nose!

It's 11 pm so I'll have to switch households really soon.
But I don't wanna! *crosses arms like an Independent toddler

What do you mean, the grass skirt isn't a good look for you, Murasaki? LOL, the uniforms are fantastic.

I never knew that the often a bridesmaid thing came from a Listerine ad. The more you know?

Well, I mean, Sergio had 15 kids in my game...oh gosh, are Hiroshi and Akira Harley's half-brothers? But it's not really a terrible trait - the moodlets are worth +1 or +2, and are usually overridden by all the others so it hardly causes any issue. And no, I don't think it's triggered by nooboos, just toddlers/children.

How cute that the cowplants dance! That's awesome!

Goodness, those are some adorable toddlers.  Hiroshi might possibly the cutest I've seen.  I mean they all kind of look alike but he seems a little ahead of the rest.  I can't wait to see what he looks like when he grows up.

Personally, I love the shot of your roof.  Because I can see that's where the nooboos sleep.  Haha... Um.  Heh.

Congrats on the twins, and looks like a day for the restaurant.  I'm digging their outfits!  And I love how sweet Sergio seems to be.

Never knew the cowplants danced.  Now I'm going to have to dig mine out of the family storage where he has been banished.  Ol' __________ shall make his comeback.

Those uniforms are great ;D

Hiroshi is an adorable toddler - I love his serious Watching face.

I didn't know cowplants could dance either. I'm going to have to try that!

Oh, yes! I'm with wfgodot. These are absolutely the cutest toddlers yet. Sergio is now officially at the top of my Townies Deserving Another Chance list. He's a really excellent waiter, too. Health codes be darned! We have no need for shirts here! The uniforms all around are just wonderful.

I wouldn't have noticed the bassinets on the roof if wfgodot hadn't pointed it out, but that's hilarious. I guess space really is tight, but you know? We don't have seasons so . . . :)

Sergio's phone conversation with the doctor! LOL! He's all set to be a Dad. He's got the Dad jokes down! Good job, honey!

*dutifully goes straight to Amazon and orders Vol. 1 of Food Wars*
*is excited*

I'm also going straight in game tonight and making a cowplant dance. Too funny!

I don't want you to leave this household, either! They're so cute and fun!

@Whirligig
Murasaki in her third trimester in that grass skirt isn't getting much lower back support!
Yes, it does make the twins half-brothers with your Harley! I'm really hoping they'll look like their father! *crosses fingers
Before I could tear myself away from the Mori household, I had the heir ask Sergio to help him with potty. Sergio hasn't gotten any negative moodlets from interacting with his sons so far.
I almost made a Youtube channel just to share my dancing cowplant, lol, but then thought better of it.

@wfgodot
Noooooo, toddlers don't all look alike! And did you notice the twins have shadows over their eyes, like their father, so I'm hoping…
Lol, the nooboos' bassinets get placed wherever the current caregivers are.
So during that day, Murasaki & Sergio are at work but Tamari & Chana are at home.
Since Tamari paints and plays his keyboard, while Chana does woodwork and tends the garden, the bassinets go up on the roof. Oh heck, I'm busted..the bassinets are always on the roof because someone is always up there.
The restaurant uniforms--it didn't even dawn on me that I've never been to a restaurant with shirtless waiters until this afternoon. Who's a jaded simmer?
About the cowplant essences--they fixed that and now the name of the essence donor appears instead of the blank!

@Alex
Hiroshi turned out really cute--I'm in sim-love (again).
When I first tried to have the cowplant dance in the evening, it just stood there for several hours.
But when I peeked again in the morning, it was grooving away! Don't give up!

@FrancescaFiori
Did you notice how nice I am to Murasaki? She got a top with straps in view of her pregnancy.
Hey, girl! The "No shoes, no shirts, no service" rule is for the clientele, not the staff! (um, isn't it?)
Seriously, Sergio is such a keeper! He moved in on Monday afternoon and by Saturday afternoon he'd completed all of Bestselling Author except the publishing income goal.
He actually advanced through that aspiration faster than Murasaki with his not-for-a-writing-career traits!
Excellent job there ordering "Food Wars" right away, lol. It's a manga for foodies, you'll love it!
I was so bad! I so immersed in ooh'ing and aah'ing over the twins that I came close to the 6 a.m. Sunday time limit for switching households!

Week 4 chez Selene Sciarri, Part I

Sunday

Massimo: I can't believe you didn't switch to me until 4 a.m., Watchette! What kept you?
Watchette: *mumbles incoherently
M: Oh never mind! Mama needs to max her career tomorrow before I can move out.
But I have so many preparations planned between now and 7 p.m. on Monday!

Morgan: Well, here I am, since you started a Renegades gathering at your home.
Massimo: Hey, it's great to see you again, Morgan!
Morgan: Can't you do anything about your club uniform?

Massimo: Happy young adult birthday, Morgan!
Morgan: Are you sure it's okay for me to be ageing up? I can't be your girlfriend anymore!
Massimo: Don't worry! I'll be caking up tomorrow evening then we'll both be young adults!

Massimo: So, Morgan, I've been thinking how cool you would look as a vampire. What do you say?
Morgan: Since you're a vampire, Massimo, and I like you so much, I'd like to join you.
And you know I'm going to slay in my dark form!
Massimo: Okay, just relax…

Massimo: Man, how long has it been since I've actually satisfied my thirst this way?!
Or maybe it's the satisfaction of creating my first offspring!

Massimo: Now sip from my wrist, Morgan, to seal our bond as Master and progeny!
Morgan: Really? You want me to drink from your wrist?

Massimo: Hey, enough! I said "sip from my wrist," not "drain all of my life blood"!
I still have a lot to do before morning, so you need to stop!
Morgan: …oops!?

Massimo: Very nice. Our pact has been sealed. You will be transforming in around 3 days.
Darn it, we should have done this step in Week 3! I thought of it but didn't want to miss Morgan's transformation.
Maybe she would have come to my active household for her transformation like in the previous cases?

Massimo: Oh, Morgan! You're still here! I'm a little peckish from training.
Would you let me have another sip before I step out for the day?
Morgan: Fine, if you only drink from my wrist.

Massimo: After training, sharing vampire knowledge, and reading vampire lore, I rise to the rank of Prime Vampire!
9 a.m. finds me at the home of the Bheedas in the Spice Market, San Myshuno.

After interacting with their nooboo Jami for several hours, we finally become good friends.
And this means that I'm allowed to age her up! Time to introduce myself to toddler Jami's father.

Massimo: Hello, Arun Bheeda! My name is Massimo Sciarri. It's a pleasure to meet you!
Arun: The pleasure is all mine, Massimo. Oh, is that our daughter Jami?

Note: After picking Jami up when ageing her up, Massimo wouldn't or couldn't put her down again. I finally had to reset him.

Massimo: Thanks for becoming my friend, Arun! Our friendship will come in handy tomorrow evening!
Arun: Well, I look forward to whatever it is you're talking about! When did Jami become a toddler?

In my test file, Jesminder Bheeda gave birth to a boy who aged up to a very nice-looking teen.
Not surprising since Arun and Jesminder are both very attractive sims.
In my RDC challenge, however, their child turned out to be a girl (who looks like a little boy in a skirt) instead.

Massimo: So, Papa, why did you drag me along with you to Willow Creek?
Caleb: I came here to fulfil a secret mission that Watchette assigned me.
Massimo: A secret mission for Watchette?

Caleb: Yes, a secret from your mother anyway. Watchette regrets my only having one child in this challenge but our household is full.
So she forced me to have a child with Bella Goth, who gave birth to a son named Geoff.
Massimo: Uh huh, I'll just sit back here and do my homework…For the record, I heard nothing, okay?

Caleb: Once you move out, I won't be able to age up your half-brother, so tonight's my last chance!
Massimo: Well, if Mama finds out, she's going to kill you, even if this was all Watchette's idea!
Caleb:Hey, if this is what Watchette wanted, what could I do? Pretend to be stuck?

Geoff: Great, just great! So, what does that make me? The love child that nobody wants?

Selene: Well, you and Massimo are finally back! You two have been out all day!
Caleb: Yeah, I was helping Massimo with his preparations to move out tomorrow evening.
Selene: I've been waiting for you to get home so I could ask you about something.
Caleb: ???

Selene: Someone left this polaroid shot in an envelope addressed to me in our mailbox.
What does this mean anyway? Why are you hanging out with those Benjaminz at Guilty Pleasures?
Caleb: Honey, I wasn't part of their group! I heard a new club opened up in Forgotten Hollow so I simply stopped by to check it out.

Selene: Hmmm, someone's trying to cause trouble between you and me. I wonder who it could be?

Selene: You are so very dear to me, Caleb! Promise me you won't let anything come between us!
Caleb: You are my very soul, Selene! Without you, my life is nothing! *curses Watchette internally

Selene: Let's renew our wedding vows, darling! Tomorrow's an important day for our bloodline and I want to do my best!
Caleb: You have never looked lovelier, my beloved!

Massimo: See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil!
I'm just going to quietly craft camping mascots to accompany me on my move…

Monday

Selene: Oh, Caleeeeeb! You got some 'splaining to do!
I was on my way to work but looked in the mailbox. Look at these polariod photos that someone left in an envelope addressed to me, again.

Caleb: Oh honey, I can't believe you actually fell for this dirty trick. Don't you read the forum threads?
Selene: What do the forum threads have to do with you and this blond hussy? Grrr, another blond?

Caleb: Take a good look at me in these photos, sweetheart. I have Level 8 Fitness now, but the man you see in the photos is much slimmer.
Also, Watchette forces me to wear lip gloss but the man in these photos isn't wearing any.

Selene: Really? But who is this lady and who's the man who looks like your twin?
Caleb: Watchette recently participated in a tournament challenge where her sim proposed to me in an entirely different simverse.
Selene: So, that's not actually the you who married me, dear?

Caleb: Of course not! Look at that bedroom! It's my old home in Forgotten Hollow. That house has been completely empty since I moved in with you!

Selene: But what was your life like with that lady?
Caleb: She made me feel cheap and meaningless, only calling me when her Fun and Social were low!
Actually, thinking about her makes me realize what a blessed life I lead now!

Selene: I'm a little confused about whether you were actually with her or not, but I'm letting it go because he's obviously not you.
Watchette: I'm getting really confused, too, and think I better quit this side story while I'm ahead...

Selene: But who the heck could be leaving me these photos?! Why are they trying to ruin our marriage?
Caleb: Hey, you better leave for work before you're late!

Selene: What a hard day at work that was. Arrrgggh, look how very close I am to my final promotion! I tried sooo hard, too!
Poor Massimo! He completed all his requirements last week and he'll be so disappointed!

Morgan will not transform into a vampire for several more days…should I take a risk?

Selene: In an act of sheer desperation, I turn to the wishing well which had been languishing in our family storage.
But all that happens is my lab phones to say I'll get promoted at the end of my next work shift.
If you compare my performance bar in the previous shot and this one, you'll realize that I would have gotten a promotion after my next work shift anyway.

I'm so sorry, Massimo, but you'll need to wait one more day. You can't move out until Tuesday!

Well, that was certainly both a misleading build-up then a tremendous letdown! How utterly disappointing!  :'(

Author's Note

Caleb and Bella: Sorry about Caleb's fling, dear readers. Massimo turned out so cute that I wanted another Caleb baby.
Bella didn't mean anything to Caleb, honest!

Caleb and the blond: Now this relationship was a little more serious but it wasn't the same Caleb.
In my save file for this forum's Masterpiece Bingo challenge, Caleb was my new sim's very first visitor. He even beat the Welcome Wagon, lol!
So, I thought, why not? She never became a vampire, though, because that would have surely violated the spirit of that tournament challenge.
Did you find the snapshots confusing? I  hope so.  ;)

@oshizu  Your toddlers are so cute. I'll have to let my son see this update. His into manga. What CC are you using for your toddlers hair? The one I have is not working right. It's correct in CAS but in game it's not. But again your sims are both cute and adorable. And Yes I might not comment all the time, but I do read.

Oh, my word! Sims gone wild! Babies with Bella Goth! Dalliances with mysterious blonde women in other files! Guilty pleasures! The plague has spread from the Mori house and no one is safe.

In all seriousness, though, I am dying to see what Caleb and Bella's child will look like. If he had to stray, that was definitely the right direction to stray in. Good job aging up Baby Bheeda, too! In my files it's sometimes a boy, sometimes a girl, but always super gorgeous.

I loved all of Massimo's faces this chapter, but I think my favorite was his, "Oh yeah, that's the stuff!" face after drinking from Morgan. Oh, Italian Stallion! You never cease to slay!

Niche Nerds in Newcrest: Rule Violation
« Reply #189 on: March 02, 2017, 02:10:56 PM »

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.

This is Victor Feng, your local community leader. And I have come to make an important public service announcement.
This Rival Dynasties Challenge has failed. I repeat, this challenge is over, kaput, finito!
A friend kindly pointed out to me that I aged up the Gen2 Mori heir, Murasaki, then erroneously aged up her brother Tamari an hour later.
Since Tamari's a spare, he shouldn't have been aged up early.

So, what's next? Well, Watchette intends to get right back up on the horse, of course. Preparations for a second attempt are underway as I speak.
Oh and don't forget to vote for ME, Victor Feng, in the coming election!

@MarianT  Would you please move this story to the Graveyard? Thank you.

I'll be using the Gen3 heirs as my new founders, so...yes to your question about Hiroshi!
They'll be related genetically to this challenge but not as part of the narrative, I don't think.

Thanks for caring about Hiroshi!
