Promote a cause?

Hi, it sounds a very silly question but I really don't know what it means as I'm not an English spoken person. I googled but didn't find any term for this. All web dictionaries were explaining what 'promote' meaning.

My sim quit the restaurant and got a politician career. I already had a look the guide page but I still don't know about this daily task meaning. Is it about maybe any protest or..?  Sorry for the English class question.

I believe if you click on your sim, you get the option to pick a cause that you want to promote.  To promote it means that you will donate them to, protest for them, etc.

When your Sim is talking to another person, you'll find Political Career in their options. Click on that and "Promote Cause" should be one of the options. It means to campaign for, advertise for, encourage someone else to support.
