YA aspiration: Something new or just another hiccup?
« on: January 17, 2017, 06:13:50 PM »
My teen twins are celebrating their young adult birthday, the first YA birthdays since the toddler patch.
I was quite surprised to see this menu after the birthday leap. As you know, a young adult sim usually has the option to choose a third trait.

I don't mind this type of hiccup at all, since it doesn't adversely affect my game.
Just wondering if it's related to pre-coding of some form.

Edited to add: The same thing happened with the twin, who initially had the Chief of Mischief aspiration.
Upon choosing Renaissance Sim at the birthday menu, I see he has both the Dastardly and Quick Learner traits.
I like this addition very much and hope it's not a bug.

The new birthday menu has been added to the game with the toddler patch. Is that what you are referring to? Or the fact that changing the aspiration awards the initial aspirations reward trait even though (I assume) your sim did not actually complete the initial aspiration?

If it is the reward trait being given to the sim I am assuming it is a bug, although the same thing has been happening to my sims when going into cas with the editing cheat activate for some time now. It doesn't seem quite balanced that a sim can get a reward trait without actually completing all the aspirations requirements. (Although somewhat handy!)

@Playalot

It's not the reward trait, but the trait one typically earns only with the first aspiration selected.
So at his teen birthday, my sim chooses Chief of Mischief and gets the Dastardly trait (the aspiration's reward trait is Tormentor).
At his young adult birthday, he chooses Renaissance Sim and gets the Quick Learner trait but hasn't started the aspiration so doesn't have the Professorial trait.

Typically, my sims only have one "from choosing the xx aspiration" trait. It's hard to explain because I don't the names for these different traits.

Right, gotcha. That was actually what I meant but called it the 'reward trait' for some unknown (just woke up) reason!  :P It must be a bug surely. If not we are going to be able to make some 'super sims' very easily.

Maybe it's to compensate us for all the grinding--uh, I mean, "micro-managing"--we'll need to do to raise a toddler with 5 maxed skills, lol.

I have seen this when teens age up in my game too after the update. They do end up with both traits for me too, I just checked one. I was not as happy, as I play forcing myself to use randomized sims. It pops up blank and I had forgotten what her aspiration was.  I will now have to write them down since I am forgetful.
