What to do with scrapyard furniture?

Since installing Late Night I haven't been able to get the repairman to fix the burnt furniture I picked up at the scrapyard so I was just wondering what else I could do with it? I tried searching but couldn't find any other suggestions.

You can use blow it up if you have an inventor, but that's about it.

Really? I was hoping there would be some way to still make money from it. Ah well, guess my Sim is going to have to get a job like everyone else!

Then what's the point of having salvageable furniture?! You might as well just get it from Buy Mode! >:(

You can explode it for scrap, as far as I know.

Yeah, I wish they would concentrate more of fixing things that are actually broke instead of fixing things that made the game fun.

I was definitely hoping I could get some extra money from "fixing" it up and reselling it. Only to find out it was the same even if I bought it from the buy mode. Blah! And here I thought I was getting a deal..
