Gourmet Cooking?
« on: September 09, 2014, 05:55:27 PM »
I had an opportunity to do some gourmet cooking on one of my sims last night.  I am not sure if it was a skill level unlock or an emotional one.  Once I cooked something using gourmet I got a single skill point at level 1 and was able to start a new cooking tree with new recipes.  I was wondering if any one else had run into this?

It's a skill level unlock, level 5 or 6 cooking, I think.

Welcome to our Forum, Zandrox.  Gourmet cooking is a new skill you unlock once you reach cooking level 5.

Yep, one of my sims has maxed both types of cooking (cooking and gourmet cooking). There's so many recipes to use, I think it's a great addition to the game.

Anyone happen to know the fastest way to level this up? My sim needs it for work but leveling it feels like torture.

Making sure your sim is Very Inspired will make skilling gourmet cooking go quite quickly, and then I think a lot of people make caprese salads. Since it's just chopping and no cooking on the stovetop or in the oven you can make them in a hurry.

If you really want to skill like lightening and you have Get Together, the club skill boosts make it go extremely fast.

Give your house the Homey lot trait -- that speeds up cooking and gourmet cooking.

Do your Sims have the foodie trait, as well as everything else that everyone has said on this thread?  You could change them to have that trait in CAS.  I hope your Sims level up faster now :)!

I'm trying it all. I'll change her traits too.

Does the serving size she makes have any effect on leveling the skill?

The serving size doesn't matter. You might get a slight speed increase by cooking the highest skill level meal available. Just get inspired and cook. Cooking and gourmet cooking are the fastest skills to level, so you shouldn't have much trouble in getting to level 8 for the career quickly if your Sim is inspired.

To be honest I wouldn't bother changing your sims traits. The traits do very little if nothing at all in the way of skilling bonuses. Having your sim Very Inspired is the key. Cooking and Gourmet cooking can be skilled up in a day. It's not a difficult thing to do. Cook the highest recipe possible each time and just drag it to the bin as the food will not be excellent when skilling up normally.

Changing traits is the last thing to consider as the changed trait leaves behind hidden attributes and can cause game play glitches and issues.
