Phone in Sims 4 does not work

I recently started having problems with the phone in the sims 4. My sims cannot access any of the options in the phone. When I click on one of them eg "Hire Service", the sim will just stop what they are doing and stand there. I have been facing this difficulty for a few weeks now and find it very inconvenient as I cannot host parties, travel or invite someone over to my house.

It sounds like this phone glitch has been happening since August's game patch.

A few tips troubleshooting tips:

1. Check to see if your mods are all up to date with the latest patch. Or move the mods folder to desktop as a test.

2. If you do not use mods, try repairing the game, by right-clicking on Sims 4 and select Repair game.
