Game Consoles won't link with TVs

For some reason, any game console that I put near the TV doesn't get recognized.  The weird thing is, is that it is possible to use them in Sims University, even after replacing it, and moving it.  I just get "No interactions available" when clicking on it.

A similar thing happened to me, but with a cooking stove. The only thing that seemed work for me was to go back to a previous save. As even trying to reset everything with MasterController wasn't helping.
