Gardening Help - Creating a Community Garden
« on: May 08, 2016, 12:27:38 PM »
I am trying to make a community garden and i would like to populate it with all the plants in the game, but i cannot find already planted plants (I hope that makes sense) In the sims 3 i could plop down normal versions of all the plants in a community garden which was what i was trying to do here but i can only put down seeds or fruit or flowers and i guess I'm going to have to send a sim over to plant them at another time. I was wondering if i was looking in the wrong place maybe or if there was something particular i needed to search? Or does sims 4 just not have that option?

Welcome to the Forum, Amandalee!

I think you have to set down the seeds (or fruit, vegetables, and flowers) and then have a sim plant them. Good luck with your project! I'm sure a lot of people would love to have a full community garden.

I sure MarianT is right. If you want to make the garden yourself then you have to plant them yourself to get them started. After that a npc gardener should come along and take care of the watering and weeding of them. Atleast one does when I plant them on a park lot. Not sure if they would on other lot types.
Only other option I can think of is to download one already done from the gallery and place it in the world. If your search the galley for garden or perfect garden they'll be several to choose from.

And welcome to the forum. :)

You could use the debug cheat if you want fully grown plants!

To enable the debug cheat, open the cheat console in live mode, type in testingcheats on. Copy/paste (Ctrl-V pressed together for paste) this cheat into the box: bb.showhiddenobjects

Once activated, type in the word debug into the search box to bring up all the hidden objects in Build/Buy mode.

I believe the plants you get with the debug cheat are just planted plants when place not full grown. And even then only the trees are available as already planted (apple, banana, tentacle, lemon, etc) unless I'm overlooking something. Everything else is like placing a seed on the ground and you have to plant it.
But it's still a good way of getting all the plants without have to go out and find them.

You can also use the spawn cheat code to spawn in any of the available 'seeds' but they again need planting and growing time.

The cheat is : objects.gsi_create_obj 0xPLANTCODE
You need testingcheats on for this to work. Make sure to spawn on a fairly empty lot as sometimes the little fruits (seeds) can be difficult to see.

Also be aware that using cheats can cause weird things to happen. I haven't experienced any major weirdness when testing these spawn cheats but then again I also haven't played for any real time in a file that I spawned plants into.  :)
