Can you take your sim babies/toddlers/kids fishing?
« on: December 04, 2009, 04:25:28 AM »
Hello, in my legacy I have a fisherman (woman) and I was wondering, since she has no children yet, can Sim babies/toddlers/kids or teenagers come fishing with you? Can they play around on the beach or even fish with their parents? I think this would be very interesting and wanted some more information. Thanks everyone. :)

The answer is yes!  You can take them as early as infant, but they just have to lay on the ground while your Sim is fishing.  That's not really a problem, it just looks odd.  At the moment, there aren't any portable infant devices in the game.  It's better when they are toddlers because they can sit and play.  It's good to have a teddy bear in the toddler's inventory so you can click on the bear and the toddler can play with it.  It keeps the toddler occupied, plus increases their fun and social bars.  If you want to bring the baby or toddler, have the parent pick him/her up then click to send the parent to the fishing spot.  Sometimes it can be a little tricky because the parent will forget and put the baby back down and you'll get the babysitter message.  But if you use pause or just be careful with the timing, it will be fine.  Also, sometimes the destination has a "visit with" option and you can just select the baby there.  It may not be quite this easy fishing with babies at the beach because there are so many spots and they aren't really actual public lots.

It's even easier with children and teenagers.  Children can even fish with their parents and learn their fishing skill early.  In these cases, you'll need to use the "visit with" option on the location.  Or just send the kid there on their own.  Teenagers, of course, are just like adults with fishing.

I hope this is helpful to you!

Wow, that's brilliant! I love leaving babies on the ground, it looks so funny! In my legacy with the first generation, I always wanted to take the babies to the park and just leave them there. But I never did. I must try that one day.

So kids can fish? That's really good. I could make a champion fisher early on. Also I really want one of my kids in my legacy challenge to get the natural cook trait. This would make it much easier for me to get the levels up higher so I can make Ambrosia. Unfortunately I have to wait nine more generations before I can do this :) I'll try it in a different saved file then. I'm really excited now! I can't wait to get on and play so I can let my Sim kids fish! Well... first I have to have some... but that's ok!
Thanks for the info! I'll be sure to do that as soon as the poll closes! Thanks!

There is an optional rule in the Legacy Family challenge that allows you to have a "family trait."  This means you can chose one trait and give it to everyone in your family.  If you want, Natural Cook could be your family trait.  You'd just have to be sure to give it to every child born as soon as it shows up on the list of traits at a birthday.

Ooh! When i get sims ill definatly do that, im borrowing it from my friend so im only really doing one family. And i should probably read the Legacy Rules on the Sims 3 website... thanks i didnt know that :) This would be very helpful and im pretty sure ill choose the Natural Cook trait as its one of the most important traits (in my opinion) Thanks Pam!
