Saves and mods are all gone

so, last night i was playing sims all normal and what not. i closed out of the game to go to sleep and woke up to play again when the game started to give me the introductary tutorials. none of my saves were loadable and all mods were gone from the startup screen.

i went in to see if the save files were actually there and they are, as are all my mods. i have no clue what happened or how to fix this

If you still have your saved games in your Sims 4\saves folder -
[C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves]

It may be the game isn't reading the save files correctly. Have you tried renaming your saved game file?

To rename your save, remove the version number. - .ver0 or .ver1 by deleting the .ver1 on the end.

For example:
Slot_00000002.save.ver1

Rename it to:
Slot_00000002.save

You may want to give it a different number if you already have a save 2 in your folder. The game should then recognize the save file again.

-- If you have an old auto save file (Slot_00000001.save) it's safe to delete as the game doesn't use it anymore. They have removed the Autosave system.

all my saved games are in the save folder. i'm not quite sure how to check if the mods are selected? they're all still in the mod folder

How to check to see if Mods/Custom content is selected in-game:

1. Go to Options menu - up in the right hand corner of the screen (...) Click this and select Game Options > Other.

2. Make sure you have Enable Custom Content checkmarked as well as Script Mods Allowed.

oh! well, i have selected them, and it's still acting up. i think it's really weird that the game is treating it as if this is the first time i'm playing it, with the tutorials and stuff
