Train Sim Bug? Help! Wont stop exercising!
« on: November 18, 2010, 10:44:56 PM »
Hello! This is my first post and I'm glad I found this forum and this awesome site that I got alot of information about sims 3

But I have one issue that's been bugging me for quite some time. I have a vanilla Sims 3 just bought it 2 weeks ago and planning on getting all the expansions but first I have this bug/glitch that whenever I use "train Sim" the sim i train will not stop using the treadmill until he/she gets fatigued! is there anyway to solve this? also sometimes when I train a sim successfully and he/she becomes fit again his/her avatar shows that's they are still fat and sometimes fat in the cheeks with a fit normal body but look fine in person.

This doesn't really effect my game that much but I like to train my Sims friends when they get "too" fat  :D

Thanks for the time! And hope to enjoy my time here in the forum :)

Welcome to the Forum, Valion.

What you're experiencing is typical for Sims 3.  The Sim being trained doesn't stop until fatigued.  The icon of the Sim doesn't always exactly match the Sim in question when something major has changed.  Usually it will change after awhile, though.

Just a quick reminder about posting, too.  You need to use correct grammar and punctuation in your posts, per the Forum Rules you agreed to when you registered.  You just need to modify your post for capitalization primarily.  Thanks!

Thank you for the reply it is much appreciated. and i've modified my post thanks i am sorry for not reading the rules first i got too excited and wanted to ask my question asap.

Though may i ask another question? why is it that the advance notice that the carpool or bus will arrive in an hour stop showing? and for some reason my sims child doesnt sleep until fully rested he always wakes-up at 98% of energy it is rather annoying since i'd want him to get the well rested moodlet.

I've had children that get out of bed too early, too.  I don't know what caused it, but it has stopped happening now.  Is your game patched up to the most recent patch?  The notices of patches come through the game's launcher and you probably got a notice for it when you installed the game.

I don't know why the carpool message would stop showing up.  Does the carpool just come without any warning?

My sims child getting out of bed early doesn't bother me that much anymore as you said it'l probably fix itself.

And yes the carpool comes w/o warning it has happened for i think 1 sims week already same goes with the school bus, no warning it just arrives. I am actually just curious to why these things happen and i know all games has their bugs hehe

Thanks for all the Help btw  :)

EDIT:
I just noticed i havent patched the game at all, and there is a new game update available for download. so i have the original version of the game so will it be ok to immediately patch it to the latest version?

Yes, the launcher will automatically update you to the most recent patch.  One thing to keep in mind, though, is that sometimes the patch will bring its own set of problems.  We've all found that out the hard way...  through experience.  However, I still recommend that you do the update because it's much more difficult to try to sift through all the individual updates and try to figure out which one to use.  And it's always best that your game be the most current version.

Thanks for the heads-up! I'm gonna download the patch later today since it is a rather big download. One question though, you said the patch brings its own set of problems what did you mean by that?

Sometimes, but not always, the patch will fix something but then break something else.  The sad truth is that Sims 3 is a very buggy game.  I've owned it since it was released the middle of last year and it's never been bug free.  I can't think of specific details of something that was fixed/went bad, but these are some of the current bugs:

1.  Can't excavate in World Adventure vacation sites except for spots on a lot.
2.  Consignment Shop for Ambitions doesn't always work right.
3.  Can't order Omni Plant seeds.
4.  Major travel bugs with World Adventures (family tree breaks, unknown children, travelers fail to return home, and more).

I know there are more, but I can't think of them at the moment.  Most of the time they aren't game breaking; just annoying to work around.  But there's really no way to avoid it because the things a patch fixes really needed to be fixed.

World adventures traveling issues have been around ever since WA was released, same for the excavation issue (hint: try ordering the action from far away, it helps sometimes), and the consignment one. Omni plants thing, not sure.
An example of a bug that DID came with the latest patch is that transmogrification and piles of metal ingots no longer play nice. The skill system borkyness that is causing supermanesque learning on kid vampires, and in very rare cases sims being unable to raise skills, appeared at some patch as well.
