Marriage and ghost sims
« on: February 01, 2016, 01:53:35 PM »
I don't know if this is already a topic, I can't seem to find a "search" option. Anyway, I just started playing The Sims 3. I have the base game, Seasons, Late Night and High End Loft Stuff. I recently found out that Sims can have ghost babies, so of course I set about trying to achieve that! Because ghost babies?!? Yes, please! So I have a family with a dad, a mom, and a little girl. The adults are married, they had a wedding and everything. Their relationship even said husband, wife. I left the dad out on the balcony and took away the door, he ended up dying. So now he is a ghost. I had the option to take his remains to the Science lab (I believe that's where it said) to try and revive him, but it ended up not working so he is still a ghost. His name is Mike and her name is Holly. Unfortunately, now Mike and Holly are listed as "Fiance" in their relationship to each other. They both have the wish to Get Married, but that option never comes up, no matter how many romantic things I do. They are in love, they are faithful to each other, they live in the same house, I just don't understand why they are not listed as married anymore. They did have a baby, but unfortunately it wasn't a ghost. I will keep trying. Lol
So can anyone explain to me why they are no longer married? Or why they can't get married again? Even on the family tree, they aren't listed as being married. I'm so confused.

Easiest way I know of to search things out is to go to your favorite search engine and type in what you want to search about. :)

I am not sure what to say about the gameplay problem as I've never played ghosts. The best I can think of is if you have a previous saved game where they were married, then try that.

To find if you have a previous save look in your Sims 3\Saves folder.

Default Path to Saves folder.
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves

Inside this folder you'll find your saved games.

SaveGame.sims3 (Main Save)
SaveGame.sims3.backup (Back up save of Main Save)

If you want to use the backup, it's best to then rename or move the main save file to some place safe like an external hard drive or flash drive. Then rename the backup save.

For example you would rename the Main Save SaveGame.sims3MS, then rename the backup: GameSave.sims3

If you find that the backup works, it would be a good idea to back it up as well. That way you have something go back to if something happens.

It's best to use Save As often. Give the save file a name like S1, S2, S3, for example. Then when problems come up, you have a built-in backup on hand to use to go back to.

Just so I know we're on the same page, do you think maybe this is a glitch and that if I went back and played this family again, turning Mike into a ghost again, it may not happen the same way and that they will still be married? I can understand if the game thinks that they aren't married once he turns into a ghost and that I have to re-marry them, but the option just doesn't come up. Even though both of them have the wish to get married to each other.

I don't know if it's a glitch or not. Like I said I've never played ghosts before. I am just suggesting something to try. It won't hurt anything. Save a backup of your current game, and do a test-game of taking a backup copy and playing it.

If you find trying a test-game doesn't help, you're not out anything, as you have your current game you can go back to if you back it up.

Going back to a previous save has helped me many of times when something messes up in my game. So give it a try. :)

The family is in the bin to play again, I can always give it a try. It took forever for Mike to die out on the porch, I may try killing him off a different way. I would love for my Sim to meet a ghost and have a relationship with them, but they never seem to find them as interesting in the game as I do in real life. They always have that scared thing, which I find ridiculous. Why are they so scared of them? Even the baby that my ghost Sim and regular Sim had together has a memory of being scared of seeing her ghost father and being scared.

When I've had ghost sims (rarely), they always revert to being fiancés and getting them married again has been really difficult.

About the baby, when there is only 1 parent as a ghost, there is only a 50/50 chance of the baby being a ghost. Keep trying and eventually, you'll get one.
