Paint from Reference
« on: March 17, 2016, 12:54:20 AM »
So... is anyone else having issues with paint from reference?  All I'm getting is blank canvases with no pictures.  It will still sell, but was hoping to have portraits for my dynasty...

@Shewolf13

I've never had this problem, though I had an issue where my Selfies were distorted after Painting from Reference.

Have you seen this solution offered by Crinict?

I have no idea whether this will solve your problem, but it has solved the issue for some simmers.

Woo!  Thanks so much @oshizu !  That topic did help, specifically the bit about the ui.

Quote
alright... after hours of testing and restarting the game with and without different things (saves, tray, resetted/deleted documents/thesims4 folder) and graphic settings I figured out what it is!

its the options.ini setting "uiscale" in row 6 of that file.

while I'm on the iMac Retina, playing in 5K I changed this thing "upscale = 100" (which is default) to 150 (that makes the UI smaller) - and thats the issue. So if there is the value 150 it gives me a white painting and black photograph - if its the value 100 it works how it should. I've changed this multiple timesto be totally sure.

I tried it and it worked.

Hmm a side effect of changing UI scale. That's annoying. I think I'll live with blank paintings until I really need them for something.

@Shewolf13
Egads,, you went for the really complicated solution!!!!
I was thinking more along the lines of moving the saves folder and resetting, hehe.

Hope it stays fixed for you.

@oshizu

I had changed the UI scale lol to make it smaller so when I saw that solution, I went, "oh..."  and actually, it's easier than resetting, since it's just clicking the options file.
