To be back on topic: I believe that celebrities can have BFF's now because it happens in real life, too. Anyone remembering the Paris Hilton show 'My New Best Friend Forever'? I'm glad I haven't but on television they threw a lot of commerials about it to us. It may be something in game too that's according to it or so.

And maybe it's a wink towards reallife. Teenagers promising to be best friends forever, then the realisation that teen-friendships often cease to be and more serious friendships form when one is adult.
