My one and only cheat that I use the most (well once per game) is freerealestate to allow me to plop my family into a house of my choice.  I have played so many legacies and apocalypses and various other challenges that when I play for "fun" I don't want to struggle on the lawn or in a little house so will set up my family in a house appropriate to the size and needs of the family.

The freerealestate cheat makes sure your family can live in every house, no matter the price? I'm not familiar with that cheat so I had to ask.

Yeah it basically gives them the real estate free, they still have their starting funds intact.  It has to be used from the Edit Town screen not the initial new game setup screen.  And testingcheatsenabled have to be on first.  Then click on the family and every empty house will show up as available.

It's almost just as easy to marry into money lol.  If your sim marries another sim who doesn't live on your sim's meager lot (not move in), you can choose to move your sim and their new spouse into the spouse's home instead of your sim's puny home.  This doesn't work so well if you're looking to marry a pauper like Christopher Steel, though.  He's got good genetics, but he sure isn't rich lol.

Except then your Sim has to be married to that rich Sim with the nice house.  I remember way back in my very first Sims 3 game, I ended up in Christopher Steel's house (he had moved away) sometime during the early second generation.  I thought it was so big and nice!  Of course, now it's not such a big thing.  But I stayed in that house a long time and did some nice remodeling.

My pick would be testingcheatsenabled.  I usually use it in big families to move it along and to raise their needs bars, if I have to.  I try to go as long as possible and usually they will take care of things themselves.  The dynasty has been the hardest test for not using that cheat.  I think they should work for their material stuff, lol.  I have fun either way, whether I use the cheat or not.  So far, I have not really gotten bored, I have so many stories and games, I will just go back to one of the first games and play.  Like Hosfac said, it is just a matter of personal preference.  If you are having fun, then go for it. :)

Or you can be best friends and wait around for the game to prompt you to move in with him/her, but it happens once in a blue moon. The only time I got it was when one of my founders were charming Agnes and he finally got to 'Agnes thinks Mars is extremely irresistible'. Just before I clicked 'Propose Going Study' the game prompted me if I wanted to move in with Agnes. The moment I clicked 'No' it went back to 'Agnes thinks Mars is okay'.  >:(

Just move the relationship meter up. Also you use cheat to increase lifetime happiness, and then if you have Late Night, you can choose Master of Seduction lifetime-reward, and then no one can refuse your romantic interactions ever! :)
