Lost Saves?!
« on: January 31, 2016, 11:25:05 PM »
Hi All.

As I was saving my game last night, the computer crashed. This morning I log into my game and the most recent save is from an old world in November 2014!!! The menu has no recollection of an of my saves from this year!!!

I've had a look in my Electronic Arts document file and it only shows the slot save files from 2014.

Even if my most recent file was corrupted, I cant figure out why there are no files from 2015 or 2016!!! Is there any way to retreive these missing files?

Any help would be much appreciated. It would be devastating to lose my game!!

Thanks,
Sonia.

If you do regular backups of your Sims 4 folder, I would check where you back up your files to see if you can find them. However if you don't then I'm not sure if there is anyway to retrieve these files.

It's highly suggested to make regular backups of your Sims 4 folder to a external hard drive or flash drive so if anything happens such as this you have something to fall back on.

Thank you for your help!

Unfortunately my last backup was quite a while ago.

It seems a bit of a mystery that one corrupted file could remove so much data though..

Are there any other locations for Sims save files?

Not by default. However, if you want to try to search for Sims 4 files, Click the Start button and search for Sims 4. Then click See more results to see all the files related to Sims 4.

Oooh, that reminds me. Try Recuva to recover them. (A free file recovery program) It may work, but the more times the drive is written to since the deletion, the less likely any recovery program will work.

Recuva (Free)

Here's instructions on how to use it:

Thanks for asking :)

Thank you very much for your help!

I will try Recuva and see if there is any possibility of recovering the lost data.
