Hi, My names Amber, Im brand new to this site! I have been away from Sims since my daughters birth a little over 3 years ago and I am finally able to purchase a new desktop and (now) Sims 4 games so I can atlast fix my withdrawls! lol.  I introduced my sister in law to Sims years before my daughter and we both had bought the same pc and swapped games so on and so fourth.  I ended up selling mine and she eventualy got an HP Pavilion 550-153wb Desktop PC Intel Core i3-4170 Dual-Core Processor, 6GB Memory and a few new Sims 4 games. She is now nearly convinced me that PC is perfect for the games, plus song downloads and picture uploads room, but the one question I have is how is she playing her games if the requirements say Intel Core i5 or faster and hers says i3?  Ive watched her play for hours on end and even bought her one of her Sims 4 games, so I know she is actually playing the Sims 4, and she hasnt had to add tooher PC or download or purchase anything to run the games perfectly.  Will that specific PC work bc Im dying to get back at it but want tobe %100 that my PC will play it no problem. Also, another question, when adding to the sims with mew games, used to we could trade one anothers games and download them onto our computer and use the code to keep them without havingto keep the cd in.  Does that still work for Sims 4? Thanks for any replies ahead of time!

And also, how do I find out the sound card specs, and video card specs that a PC has before buying it?  When looking at the specs of the HP Im considering it didnt go that in depth with the specs.

The recommended specs for playing the game with minimal issues or highest settings is a Core i5 2.4 GHz or better. That doesn't mean the game won't run - or indeed run well - on a Core i3 as long as it meets the speed requirement. So, yes, a Core i3 should be fine for running The Sims 4. Where you may run into problems is if you then want to go back and play The Sims 3 - a game which places a much higher strain on both the processor and the video card on the computer. So we tend to aim high on our system requirement recommendations as we usually assume people want to play both games with a better overall gaming experience.

It can be difficult to decipher the specifications, especially if you are looking on the sticker on the computer. Do you have a link for the HP you're considering? Maybe we could take a look. :)

Hope this helps and happy Simming!

To answer your question about sharing games: unfortunately, no, the only way someone would be able to play your games is if you gave them your Origin password, and then they would only be able to play the games you own.
