Here's a thread from Annika that may help going back to a previous saved game.

Hi deedjk, welcome to the forum. The only way I know for you to be able to choose the other career branch is if you have an older save back at the point before you made the choice.

The link MrsFlynn has linked you to should help you roll back to an earlier save. Other than that I really don't know. Career branches get locked in and even if you rejoin the career the same branch will be the only one available to you.

If you don't mind using mods, there is one called "Change Career Branch" that does exactly that. I've never used it, but it seems to still be working flawlessly.

If you don't want to mess with mods, there used to be another way. I'm not sure if this still works, but exporting a sim to the gallery should retain only the current job, forgetting the job history. So, you could:

- Take everything out of that sim's inventory (as the inventory isn't retained).
- Change the sim's career to a different one (doesn't matter which, as long as it's unrelated to the one you want to change the branch).
- Export that sim.
- Start a new game with that sim.
- Have the sim rejoin the career you want to change the branch.
- Export the sim again, and merge him into the original save he came from.

Keep in mind that the career branch won't be the only thing missing. And, please, backup your save before you try it; I don't want to be held responsible for someone messing their game.

I guess not only me that really dislike the startup branch. I tried it once but the only "real" reward was the objects since even at maxed programming, creating a program / game pay way less then competing  in a tournament. And that is not adding the potential big income from livestreaming with a million fans.

If there are any items that you'd like, you can always add them to an empty lot or house. If you stick them outside, you can use them, without going inside the house. You could even put them inside a room & load the room to the gallery, so you can buy them.
