Themed Bar Nights
« on: December 13, 2015, 10:09:47 PM »
Wow, so I started an alien club but wasn't having any luck. I guessed there just wasn't any aliens in the worlds so I started community lot hopping and world hopping. Two sim weeks later still no aliens to join my club despite knowing many sims. My poor lonely sim. So I disbanded the club and joined a few ready made clubs so as to have some fun.
Long story short... I was invited to Alien Night at the pub!  ;D I didn't even know that was a 'thing'. I must have missed that info, anyway, it was great, so many aliens turned up, two in disguise and about 15 not in disguise. Some were young adults and some were adults; male and female.
I'm not sure what triggered this Alien Night, perhaps disbanding my Alien Club or perhaps it's just one of those themed nights that happen every so often. Either way, if you want aliens in your game or you are a trying for the RD with the alien option, this night is a pure winner.

Even if it isn't your Alien that gets the call, still go. Your playable Aliens will show up (at least mine did) and you can get them into conversations with other aliens so they meet some potential spouses. I had some luck with the alien club thing in a previous save. Even though there was only one, she was the right gender. I restarted because I determined I really, really hate the Mansion Baron Aspiration unless it just sort of happens over time. So far, though, no luck on the Alien club this go-round.

My sim isn't even an alien. It was just one of my sims I use to play/test stuff out. Hmm, I wonder if there is a way to up the odds of Alien Night occurring more often. I had refused all invites until that one popped up as I wasn't interested in going as I had already done that and was actually exploring if the clubs skill boost stacks with other skilling boosts. Perhaps you can keep refusing invites until the Alien Night cycles round. Just a thought.

I *think* there's also a random chance if you hang around in the bars. My Sim was hanging out when Ghost Night was announced, so I'd imagine it would be the same for Alien night. Interestingly, my male alien founder had the option to add my female alien to his club, then, a few days later, she was not on the list. This makes me think that just because aliens aren't showing up in the club invite panel, it doesn't mean they are not there. We'll see. I'm a week in on my female alien and 5 days in on the male and neither of them have met another alien.

I think it must be a random chance BUT the more you go to these type of events, the more you are invited to them. I made a new sim with the "insider trait" so she basically went to pretty much every event going - as she loves being involved in groups. She chatted with loads of people (mainly men as I was looking for a spouse) and even now she's now not so involved with going to these type of events, her phone is pretty much non stop still. Sims are even ringing her up from beyond the grave... Seriously!

Think I've been invited to most events by now - including Alien night.

I have noticed that sometimes you can't choose to travel with certain people, I put it down to when they must be working or already involved in a social gathering. Sometimes though they might turn up a bit later, again due to chance. I think it's great so many sims turn up to the events, really gives you a chance to chat to everyone - if you so wish.

I must admit I am loving how many sims are on the lots. I guess there were that many before but now they seem more animated. It really helps having some more activities for the sims to do together too. My sim ended up playing darts with a huge group of aliens, it was pretty weird to watch! Then his partner cam over and asked him to woohoo in the closet. I was like, huh? They are going to go home autonomously?? But then they made their way over to a dark corner and I saw the closet. I was mortified for them when everyone in the pub came over to see what was going on... they didn't seem to have any shame.  :o

I have never before been too keen on socialising in the sims - I have never tried any of the social aspirations yet. But... Now there is more activities to do with them, it makes it fun. So I may try one now, see how it goes.

It's still difficult to balance the work/social life and now she's married, she is being a little more domesticated. Mirrors real life I guess!

This expansion has a big thumbs up for me (although be glad to get the stupid toilet/dropping actions out of the way soon....). But that's a different topic.

I'm not sure how many different events there are but my sims have got phone calls and been invited to Alien Night, Ghost Night, Bear Night and Knight Night that I can remember.

I wonder if that changes for each game file? In my most recent game I happened to be at a Ghost Night and it was a Tuesday and I think that my alien night was a Thursday. Might be completely wrong though as I wasn't really paying attention to the day of the week.

Yeah, have to admit I'm really liking the themed nights because the choice is really up to us as players whether to go and meet aliens, ghosts etc or not.

I answered my own question and came up with what I think is an accurate list of the themed nights: Please tell me if these are not the nights you have had these themed activities in your game. I tried with three different new files so like I said... I think they are correct.

I believe if you don't have the required expansion / game pack. The game will not give replacement "happy hour" to cover that. Also might want to add Bear's night mean you have to be in a bear outfit and not be a beary male (the latter is what I would assume actually).
