Flickering Screen in Game *Fixed*
« on: October 08, 2015, 03:28:09 AM »
Hi, I just updated my driver and went to play Sims 4 (new game) and the screen starts flickering on and off. So I exit game and repaired it, and went back in again.. this time it was worse. So I decided to delete the game file and start another file in case that one was corrupted. Started a new one, and it's happened again..  Anyone else having the same issues? I know that it's nothing wrong with my laptop (being playing on the same one for the last year) was hoping that it may just have been a problem when updating the driver.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT *Just went back in game to check and it's flickering so badly it's unplayable. The sim is frozen as well..  :'(

Have you turned on Vertical Sync ? Might help. I updated my driver recently and my game was flickering a bit too until I turned on Vertical Sync.
If you have a Nvidia Card i recommend turning it on through the Nvidia Control panel.

Thanks @Ferretmania - I did turn it on after a bit of research on the internet.. it still flickers a bit in the background and whenever I am travelling - but it is LOADS better. Thank you so much for such a quick response  ;D

Hi KTK10,

I'd like to add to try deactivate Origin in Game -- Open Origin, Select Origin > Application Settings > Origin In Game and uncheck it to disable Origin In Game.

This may help also. :)

Thank you again @MrsFlynn  you always come to my rescue!  ;D

*Edit - Seems that things are much better in file. Have been playing for a couple of hours and only have a couple of flickers when travelling. Thank you!

One other thing. If you're playing the game Fullscreen, try switching to Windowed or Windowed Fullscreen mode. This may completely remove the flickering. I haven't run into this problem on The Sims 4, but I have run into it on other games. :)
