Songwriting glitch?
« on: October 15, 2015, 08:18:20 AM »
It looks as though there may be a new glitch with writing songs.  My Sim has written two songs; she's received the confident moodlet for having written them but they aren't incrementing her aspiration progress and aren't available to licence.  (Yes, her skill level is 9).  Also when I attempt resuming work on them, the action won't occur.  Thanks for any and all help!

Are you using any mods or CC?

Thanks, Dellena! No, I don't use any mods or CC.  I've cleared the cache, repaired the game and restarted the PC.  The same issue recurs.

They supposedly "fixed" the glitch where once your sim started writing the song, he couldn't stop until you sent him to another lot. It sounds like this glitch is worse, especially given the upcoming challenge.

Yes, MarianT, this was not a happy discovery.

I'll have to see, tomorrow, if I have a musician in one of my saves that I can test this out on to see if it's a consistent glitch.  @Ginj you could try saving your current musician to the library; start a brand new, fresh, game; bring that saved sim into that game and try the song writing and see what happens.  I'm curious if it's localized to your current save game or not.

I had that happen just the other day.  My sim was writing on the guitar right before she went to work.  The next day, I went to finish up the song, and it was gone--no longer in her inventory to finish or name.  I tried the usual cleaning of files, checking of CC, etc.  I figured the song was just gone at that point, so I had her write another one.  Later when I was ready for her to finish the second song, she had two songs in her inventory instead of just the second one.  There was no indication as to which was the original one and which was the second, so I just told her to finish one.  She was able to name and publish it as usual, and when she completed the second song it worked normally as well.  I think there is a glitch going on, but if Ginj's sim has written two already and the second didn't cause the first to reappear like mine did, then it's not something consistent.

Thanks Dellena and Steellace! I tried starting out the musician in a brand new game and she was able to write a song, get credit for it and licence it.  I am, however, still a bit skittish about making the investment to write a song in a game where I've actually nutured the Sim up to the requisite skill level. :)

So there's something in your original save game preventing writing songs.  Hmmmm
