Can't sleep at work.
« on: September 21, 2015, 03:45:49 PM »
Are you supposed to be able to sleep while at work in all careers, or just a few?  It was an effect I used in Bridgeport so I would always be ready for the night clubs, but not every job seems to be able to do it now.  In a political job I would be able to "sleep in the judges chamber" but I can't do that now.  I picked out a random house, two people who had the same job.  One person could sleep, but the other couldn't.  Any ideas?

The only things I can think of are:-
- is it something to do with traits?
- is it something to do with how much of the sim's energy bar is filled?

Definitely not either of those.  The person who could go to sleep still had the well rested buff AND had a light sleeper trait!

To sleep at work in any job, a Sim has to have the "Heavy" sleeper trait. Any other trait will not allow it, though there are exceptions like Politics and Education.

Heavy sleeper trait is not necessary from what I have seen.  A Sim who had the LIGHT sleeper trait could sleep at work.  Plus a Sim who is a politician cannot "sleep in the judges robes" as it says they do.  It seems rather sporadic where I can do it now and am wondering if it just has been a glitch as usual.

Could it be something to do with the coding of Bridgeport vs other worlds? Much like the greasy food vans that only seem to come to Bridgeport and the slightly modified hours that I understand sims work in Bridgeport?

All I can think is that it's tied to certain careers:

1) Law Enforcement has "Sleep in Jail Cell"
2) Politics has "Sleep in Judge's Chambers"
3) Education has "Sleep under teacher's desk" (or words to that effect)
4) Music has "Sleep Backstage"

If I missed any, feel free to add in.

I think you might be right at it only being an aspect of Bridgeport, at least when you are at a higher level of your chosen profession.  The guy who couldn't "sleep backstage" was at level 5 while the other was at 8.

I actually just did a quick test. Here are the results:

Job: Politics, Level 7 (Mayor)
Town: Sunset Valley
Traits:
- Over-Emotional
- Workaholic
- Daredevil
- Charismatic
- Eco-Friendly
- Brooding
- Schmoozer

With those traits, he didn't have access to "Sleep in Judge's Chambers". However, when I replaced Daredevil with Heavy Sleeper, he suddenly had access to that tone.

It seems to be rather erratic on which professions and traits let you do this, since the person who was able to sleep at work (level 8 actor in Bridgeport) was a Light Sleeper.  Something that will take alot more testing and data mining to know for certain.  It would be something good to add into the guide perhaps since not all jobs let you do this.

I did find that while my child-aged Sims were at school, they had the tone to "Sleep in Class", but only when they had the Sleepy moodlet on them. Maybe this could be your case at work?

One of my sims had the tone to sleep at work, I think it was the business career and the sim had the sleepy moodlet on them.

I'm playing in Isla Paradiso, and my spare from my completed legacy, Olaf, was just given the option to sleep on the prep table at the bistro. He was fully rested and just heading to work. He's a Heavy Sleeper.

I'm not sure about the moodlet since she was "Well Rested" and could still sleep despite being a Light Sleeper.  Some jobs I have had the Exhausted moodlet and could still not sleep.  From what I can gather, it just depends on the job, traits and moodlet.  There is no "one thing" that determines whether or not you can sleep at all of the jobs or not.  I'm getting the mental image of a giant board with a circle in the middle, branching off into 100 different sections.
