Game won't load. Save was saved with an newer version *Fixed!!*

hi, all,
i cleared my cache today, restarted my computer, and tried to go back into my game.  I received an error notification that the game i was trying to load was created in a newer version of sims 4 than is installed on my machine.  it's not... its the same,  no update notices are coming through origin.  I went in and deleted save and renamed the next version down but get the same thing.  when my sims game opens, its like i have no game created there at all... it goes directly into creat-a-sim like a brand new game... help?
