Bored With Supernatural, Other Expansion Packs To Enjoy?
« on: April 08, 2015, 03:13:46 PM »
I had asked advice a while back about getting Supernatural, because I've never played as a sim vampire, well an official one anyway.  I got it and enjoyed it to a point.  After my vampire sim fulfilled his lifetime wish I killed him and decided to make a fairy and human live together and thought it might be fun for them to have a child who could potentially be a fairy.  I worked hard creating a large house--love the blueprint thing by the way.  I also used the cheat which gives you lots of simoleons to build the house.  I can never make exquisite looking houses, they're usually boring in compare to others.

Anyway, I haven't actually played this couple yet but I started thinking I'm not really enjoying Supernatural anymore.  I guess I prefer actual human sims to Supernatural ones.  I'm disappointed, because I thought I would have endless fun with it.  I also can't understand why vampire sims don't have their fangs showing.  They look like normal sims if they don't have their fangs showing.  I know you can use an action to "show fangs" but I mean besides that.

Are there other expansion packs I should try?  I thought about seasons, because I've always wanted to decorate a sims house for halloween or christmas and maybe have a halloween or christmas house with walls and floors, etc.  It would be nice to see now and fall type weather too.

I recently made a house for the Grim Reaper I downloaded.  Since he's already created and in move in mode I can't make anyone else to go with him.  I went to blueprint and made all the rooms in the house gothic.  But, his sleeping schedule is off.  I didn't do this on purpose but he sleeps during the day and is awake at night but nobody is around at night to socialize with.  I decided to play on Sunset Valley I think that's it, not the Moonlit Falls one and finally found where the Goth's live and it's neat to see the historic family when Mortimer was a child.  Does it go up to Mortimer being an adult and living with Bella Goth?  I've heard that Bella Goth doesn't appear in this game but wasn't sure if that was true.

Bella's there alright as a child named Bella Bachelor. If you play either family, they should meet at school. They'll marry if you make it happen. As for Supernatural, have you looked at Carl's Sims 3 guide? It will give you a good idea of all the possibilities the expansion holds - so much more than just the different life states. What other expansions do you have? I've enjoyed the self-employment and hands on careers that come with Ambitions. Also, World Adventures has been fun. I had to uninstall Seasons as my computer just doesn't like it, and the town that comes with Island Paradise really lags for me. I would recommend checking the guide in the Expansion Pack section to see what appeals to you.

Hi there! Seasons is a good expansion pack but it doesn't come with the furniture for the holidays so it may disappoint you in that aspect. As KRae said, check the guide's expansion pack section. I own World Adventures, Ambitions, Seasons, Generations, Late Night and University Life. My personal favorite is Late Night which would go well with Supernatural but it is your decision on which pack to get. You may be able to get a discount on them since The Sims 4 is out now.

Thanks to you both for responding.  Supernatural is my only expansion pack.  I recently got back into PC gaming for The Sims.  I played it back in the 90's when it first came out and got the last game before Making Magic (which I didn't get) and since then I moved onto other stuff and later I got the Playstation Console versions, except Urbz and I tried The Sims 2 but the sounds of them going to the bathroom turned me off. I know they can play games or read but I couldn't take it.  I may have to read about it and see if I can find something else about it to keep me going.  I do want to play as the family, because otherwise I will get OCD with the family, having the Grim Reaper go to visit them as often as I can to see what they're up to.  Even though I've already started a game with the Grim Reaper in that town can I still play as the Goth family or do I have to start a new save and have that family be the family I control?

Is there halloween stuff I can download to the Sims 3 or does it have to get with seasons only?  I don't buy sims game point cards, just sometimes work to get free points and buy little things I can afford.

You can switch households to the Goth household in edit town. They might not all be alive though if you're far into the game. There should be some to download on http://gb.thesims3.com/ but it may be with Seasons only, have a look. If not there might be custom content somewhere but I don't use it in my game so I don't know.  :)

I didn't really enjoy midnight falls the town until I added some buildings from Bridgeport and spiced it up, no it's one of my favorites! I enjoys the other things from supernatural like being able to play as a fairy and the alchemy skill. I also really like playing the town dragon valley. It can be purchases from the store. Havering dragon valley and supernatural work well together I think. I use a lot of the clothes and decor from supernatural in dragon valley.

Also, you should know that on the sims3.com if you search the store for FREE items, there are a TON of FREE holiday items! Especially for Halloween!

I hope you can find something with the supernatural ep that you can enjoy!

Sorry you got bored with Supernatural! Sounds like you've played it to its fullest. :)

A lot of people dislike World Adventures, but it's my favorite. I love the tomb puzzles and exploring and just enjoying being in a "foreign country." It's so much fun to me. Seasons is a great one mostly because the special effects are just beautiful. Fall and Winter are gorgeous. I love watching the snow fall and admiring my world when the leaves turns and it rains... And Halloween is so cute!

Also, I love riding horses IRL so Pets is my second favorite to WA. Building horse farms and creating horses is definitely a niche, but for me it's fun.
