Computer crashing issues - especially on downloads

Unfortunately the computer just keeps crashing.

I just tried the boot up options when the computer starts and when it was testing the fan - that's when it crashed. I was unable to test it again but will do when I can.

Could the a faulty fan be causing all the crashing/freezing?

Yes a faulty fan could be causing at least some of the crashing/freezing. If there isn't good air flow in the computer, it will cause computer parts to overheat. Therefore freezing, crashing and/or computer shutting down.
