Problems getting promoted in the culinary career.
« on: June 07, 2015, 05:37:44 PM »
My Sim has been at level 2 of the culinary career for almost a week. She completes her tasks and goes to work inspired etc etc. But the promotions are just not happening. Also I am pretty sure when I played back in November that you could click on a Sim at work and they would work hard etc. I can't do this they are just not clickable.

Getting frustrated because its for a dynasty and they need to get to the top of the career and I can't even get to level 3.

I know that Joria has experienced problems getting promoted in the culinary career as well. I've got a helper in this career in my Treath Dynasty just to check it out. He's at level 6 now and has had no problems so it must be a bug that only effects some game files.

I'm not sure what to tell you, either.  I've done the culinary career a few times and never had this problem, and also don't have trouble having a Sim at work work hard.  I don't think this requires selecting the Sim, just using the drop down menu on the Sim's picture, although I can select the Sim.  I hope you manage to figure this out.  I would make sure to start at career level 4 next time though by using the connections reward, because it is harder to get promoted than it used to be.

Thanks guys. I am going to give it a few more days and if things don't improve I might have to get her another job.

Have you tried repairing your game? There are some things that that helps with. (Go to Origin, right-click on your game box icon, and choose "repair game.")

Good to hear, I agree, this game does the weirdest things at times.

Ratchie I tried culinary career six or seven times.  Can't remember which.  Each time I had my Sim cook, and cook, and cook, maxing or nearly maxing both cooking and gourmet cooking BEFORE it was a requirement in the career.  Each time I failed to get promoted.  With my latest Sim, (stubbornness runs in my family), I was careful to only raise her skill at the point it was required in the game.  She succeeded!  So I think, but can't really prove, that it's connected.  Repairing game and clearing caches did not help but holding back on her skill level did.  So glad your Sim got promoted!
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

I have this problem with my sim.  She had already maxed the cooking and gourmet cooking before starting the career and it's like pulling teeth to get promoted.  It usually takes three sim days to get a promotion, even with going to work Inspired, completed daily tasks, etc.  She's finally reached level 9 of the culinary career, I'll be glad when it's over!

It took her until a few days into elderhood to reach level 10. So glad she finally got there.
