Betta Fish
« on: July 19, 2015, 06:00:44 PM »
My sim is at her highest level of fishing and has caught all the standard fishes. I wanted to catch all the standards before going into the hidden areas but the problem is, I can't seem to catch a stinkin' Betta! I used to be able to catch tons of Bettas with my other sims but for some reason, she can't. I tried to fish at the pond at the park and the rivers down by her road. I've tried using crystals, edible items, and fish as bait in attempt to catch one but I STILL can't get one! Anyone know why? They're not even rare>:(

Hi SonicHedgehog,

Welcome to the forum. It is so frustration when your sim just can't catch that one fish you're after! There's a few things you can try: clear out your cache and then try fishing with no bait. If that doesn't work you could try fishing in the very focused emotion and then try fishing in any other emotion other than focused. Although you can catch the Betta pretty much everywhere try in the pond in Willow Creek Park or the river down by the picnic tables at the far end of the park. Sometimes it's just a matter of time, as frustrating as that is. In one of my games it took me serious days of fishing to catch a goldfish, crazily frustrating. Best of luck!

Welcome to the forums!

Everything already mentioned is a good idea, the only thing I'll add is that I usually catch a few Betas in the river next to the Oakenstead household in Willow Creek.  Fishing without bait will help, as that fish is considered a low tier fish and so you'll actually have a better chance without it.

If you want to make sure you have a chance of catching it, look at the fish swimming around the fishing spot...  if you can see a fish, you can catch it, so if you can see a Beta it's just a matter of time and luck.

I found a lot of them in the river behind the museum in Willow Creek.  You can see them swimming there.  No bait.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

Betta is a funny little fish. It's supposed to be herbivorous, but it eats anything.
I once had the same problem you have and caught it with frogs.

I know I've caught some in the Sylvan Glade.  Good luck with them.
