Well I ran out of real time with 12 sims out of the house and 7 still in.

12 x 3 = 36
36 + 7 = 43

30x3 + 7 = 97

This event is now closed.

Congrats to all participants, and great job to Nutella and LenaLJ fo both earning a top spot - I can't remember when there has been a tie at the top of an event, so it must be quite awhile.

Everyone is free to share strategy now.

Since I'm still awake I'll go ahead and tell you my learning, rather than strategy since I really didn't have any to start with.  I made a lot of mistakes, first one being not checking the challenges sooner.  Basically what I did was make my "mom" work on her skills fast as she could.   First up was cooking since it's the easiest for me but she also did painting.  Both give a lot of reward points and I knew moodlet manager was going to be a must for her so she could skill without worrying about needs.  Painting was needed for fast cash.  They never would have needed to kaching.  My first teen became a painter and at that point mom stuck with cooking and added gardening.  I tried to have each teen work on a skill that would also bring in cash so I had a painter, a writer, a programmer, handiness, (for sculptures etc.),  and a musician, the others didn't bring in cash other than their jobs.  I gave them all the same job at first, barrista.  With the last two I gave them food handler and found that was easier to manage since I didn't forget to send them to work.  One mistake was not watching their work needs and another was not getting them there on time.  Getting straight A's was easy.  Getting promoted, not so much.  I spent too much time making their house all nice and would do things very differently on that end were I to do it again.  Instead of bedrooms there would be aura filled skill rooms so both work and school would get them arriving in the best moods.  It was fun!
What?  Grannies can't play games?

Joria, you might have missed the rule that said that once the houseparent reached level 10 of a skill, you could use the cheat to disable needs decay.

I don't remember all the things I did, but here are the highlights:

I started Jean Poppins with the painting skill. As soon as she hit level 6, she adopted Aria, who worked on cooking and got a job in Fast Food. Jean continued with painting to get to level 10 for the cheat. Early on, she took the Successful Lineage aspiration and went to the park to read to a couple of children. When she moved teens out, I used her genie rewards to complete the two Family aspirations, so that she could get the Vicarious trait (children's skills build hers) and the Matriarch trait (parent's presence improves the skilling of children). Vicarious was almost too good -- she got a 6 in Violin at the same time as a 10 in Logic, so was able to use only one for adoption. For the most part, once Jean got her 10 in painting, I had her work on getting 6's in all the skills, before trying for 10's.

Barista was the easiest job to get promotions in -- 1 day for the first promotion, 2 or 3 for the second. Manual labor was pretty easy, too, but because the work days were on the weekend, I only used it twice. I learned that most of the "chance" cards have a safe option and one that can either give you a boost or a performance loss. Once I'd figured out the safe option, I chose that. I never had a teen take the babysitting job. I used reward points to buy potions so they'd be in the right mood for work -- Inspired for Fast Food and Barista; Focused for Manual Labor; and Energized for Retail.

I did learn that the baking and herbalism skills were not affected by the Vicarious and Matriarchal traits. Baking was the worst -- it took forever to get my teen to a 10. Video gaming was harder than I expected -- my teen kept getting tired of playing!

You want to get the cheat needs decay as soon as possible.  The easiest skill to max (without any trait reward) is Cooking.

Sunday:
8:15am -- 775 whims -- starts cooking.
1:23pm -- 2425 whims -- cooking 6.  Try to get all the cooking whims (like group meal 50 points, single meal 25 points, excellent meal 50 points).  I skip all the whims that require me to cook dishes (like chocolate chip cookies etc), because those takes longer.  I cook "Grilled Cheese" all the way, fastest for skill up I find.  Adopt a child, age up to teen and use that child to get 500 whim points (pretty easy) - buy moodlet solver for houseparent.  I don't want to use houseparent whim points to buy potion, need to save it for other reward traits.
7:07pm -- 4000 whims buy Savant.
7:33pm -- max cooking.  Once the needs decay cheat kicks in, everything is much easier.
11:15pm -- 1000 whims buy Morning Sim.

Monday:
4:47am -- 1000 whims buy Night Owl
These 3 reward traits are the only important ones, the rest I didn't care much for.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All my teens part time job -- Barista (easiest to level and the work time coincides with school days, perfect)
If you work hard and go to work Inspired, you would get promoted to level 3 in 4 work days.
If you work hard and go to work VERY Inspired, with the game popup (small performance gain) you can get promoted to level 3 in 2-3 work days.
For level 1 barista, game popup always choose "scrub it clean".  It is a 100% small performance gain.
For level 2 barista, game popup always choose the top one, I think it is "blend it".  This one is more like 70% chance gain, sometimes you will have performance loss, but it won't affect your promotion much since it is small loss.

If you work hard at school, you would get A in 4 school days.
Sometimes if you get lucky and get a game popup and if you choose correctly, with the right mood you can get school to A in 3 school days.  Not very common, 4 school days is the bottleneck in this challenge.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1st and 2nd teen will be ready to move out Thursday, so they need a skill they can max fast -- Homestyle cooking and gourmet.  These first two teens very important, because right when I move them out Thursday, I use the cheat to complete big happy family aspiration (milestone 3 and 4).  Completed milestone 1 and 2 before Thursday - the read to child for 2 hours one, just grab one of the child from the outside world.

Martriach -- give their children boosts to gaining Skill when they are nearby.
This aspiration reward trait is so important.  All my teens level skill just standing near my houseparent, I feel like the skill gain is 10X faster.  I don't know how to look at coding, but I just know the skill gain rate is faster than anything you can get in game.

@MarianT
Every skill does get affected by Martriach.  Teen has to manually level the skill (NOT read book - way too slow) to get the benefit of Martriach. The only skill I have my teen read book while standing by houseparent is fishing.  I had the teen read book all the way to fishing 9 then send her off to actually manually fish.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vicarious -- Your Children's Skill gains will contribute to your own, meaning you gain skill from their successes in their own skills.

I only took this reward trait on Week 4 Wednesday, because my houseparent could not level skill fast enough to catch up anymore.  With this reward trait, you have to be careful.  I did not want to get this reward trait early because it is a lot of balancing act I have to do and micromanage.

I need my children to be close to houseparent to get the martriach boost -- but then whatever they level will cause skill gain for houseparent too.  You need to balance this so you can get the maximum benefit from both.

Yes, loads of Game of Thrones.  When I can't find anymore GOT characters, I went for Disney and some of my favorite movies character names.
