Can't start a new game

It's been a month since I played the Sims 3 since I was trying out some of the new things for Sims 4. When I went to play it tonight, I wanted to start up a new game in a new town. I clicked on the new game button and it took me to the screen where you select your world. When I went to select my world, the plus sign that lets you move on stayed grayed out. It remained that way no matter what world I chose. I didn't get any messages apart from the usual start new game message that pops up if you hover over the plus sign. I need help.

I had that happen to me once. If I recall rightly, I had a lot of saved games already, and it wouldn't allow me to add any new games. So maybe see if you have old saved games that are either earlier saves of current games or games you are unlikely to play again and delete some. That may help.

Unfortunately, that's not it. I only have two saved files since I had to do a factory reset on my computer due to a bunch of viruses (over 2,000) which deleted all my saved files except for the ones I saved on my flash drive. I do have one file that is no longer playable since it requires Island Paradise. Could that be what is causing the problem?

Hubby and I just went into Sims 3 and found that we're having the same problem. = Go to start a new game, select town, and the New Game button was grayed out. So we're doing some testing to see if we can figure out what the problem might be.

I will update this post when I know more.

*Edit - A few minutes later*

We found what the problem is. To play a new game; click the new game button, select town of choice, and then click the checkmark in the middle of main menu. Then things should run smooth from there.

So yeah.... I apparently haven't played a new game in awhile. *Giggle-Blush*

Ah, I seem to start up new games all the time, I didn't realise that anything was different on that page Some of that time should be spent working or sleeping or spending time with my family, I am told. Maybe during my time on holiday I'll put things right on those fronts. Oh wait, my laptop is going with me, so nope lol.

Wow, I can't believe I forgot that. Just goes to show that my brain really is fried. Good thing I leave for vacation in two days. Thanks for the help.
