Problem with babies
« on: November 08, 2010, 04:21:14 PM »
Since installing Late Night, I have noticed that the babies have dark bits on them, has anyone else noticed this?

Welcome to the forum, Jen! I did notice now that you mention it (and I've only patched it, I don't have the expansion pack). It doesn't seem to have any negative effects other than the appearance though, so I haven't worried about it.

I've noticed the dark bits as well, but the biggest issue I've been having is adults not wanting to take care of the babies and the babies being much more needy than usual.
It's like every two minutes they need attention because they are lonely when they are sitting right next to an adult.  Several times I've told a mom or dad to change a diaper or feed them and they just refuse or the queue disappears.
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

I'll be having a new nooboo in the Dreamweaver Dynasty soon.  It'll be my first since I installed Late Night.  I'll be sure to report my findings.  :)

Since instaling LN my Sims have had two babies they both had darker patches at the side of their faces. I have also noticed that the babies are more needy especially with regards to social needs.I have also noticed that my Sims are not so quick as they once were to rush and take care of the baby. Poor Kumquat in my dynasty game had diaper changes by the maid more often then not.
I bet something like one of the baby boomer challenges would be a whole lot harder now.
The wanting more attention thing happened during the toddler days as well. I just wish there were more social interactions for babies other then just snuggle or play with. At least with toddlers you can do more with them.

I just noticed the dark bits too when my first sim since Late Night was installed was born. First I thought it was supposed to be hair like some newborns have, but it a bit to oddly placed for that (unless they are supposed to be werewolf babies). They baby also looked really dark in the menu picture. He looked normal as a toddler later so there is no permanant effect.

It looks like a graphics glitch to me.  I've got a good graphics card and great detail on my Sims, and on my infant, it looks like orangy patches.  It's not attractive, for sure, but if it goes away at the toddler stage, I can handle it.  And they do need much more care now.  Before, when only a couple of interactions would satify hunger and social needs, now it takes up to 5 or 6 interactions.

Baby Molly in the Clan Douglas Dynasty had darker patches at the temples - I just thought it was meant to be a sort of hair, it didn't look bad.  She did need more social interactions than babies used to need.  Where one would have done before, now it took several.  But I didn't notice any change in her hunger or other needs.  Once she aged up to toddler, the toddler needs didn't seem any different than they were before LN.  I haven't had any problem with the adults not wanting to take care of her.

I thought my little Wolfgang Marlin had a fringe of hair around his head and was bald on top because of the graphics glitch.  His traits are good and friendly, but I have noticed his needs deteriorated faster than usual as a baby.

As a toddler he is a little easier to handle and thankfully has a nice head of hair.
I think Mom only does what she has to even with the Family-Orientated trait.  She is expecting again so it will be interesting how she interacts with the new baby.

Wolfgang's father is a vampire and he seems to be the one to pay him the most attention.  I keep a bear in Wolfgang's inventory and have several around his room so he doesn't get too lonely.  He has all the books and lots of toys.
I did notice he learned to walk, talk and was potty trained faster when his dad taught him at night.  Maybe the little vamps have some sort of super learning speed too!
