Master Inventing Glitch?

Hi all, I hope someone here can help!

I choose to master inventing in practically all of my games, as I really like the miner and the time machine (for that outfit from the future!), and have never come across this issue before.

After dabbling and then inventing some of the basic items I started noticing that selecting 'invent' and working at the workbench for sim-hours at a time (till it auto-completes) resulted in the little confetti animation, but no actual item in my inventory or msg saying I'd discovered/made anything.

I left it for a while and tried again some time later and managed to invent the big 4 -floor hygienator, harvester, miner and time machine, but then it went back to showing the 'invention complete' confetti animation, but again, no new items added.

By this point I reached level 10 (and had lvl 10 handiness, too. I don't normally master handiness before inventing, but it worked out this way this time), but the skill journal said I've only discovered 88% of inventions.

I left it for a while longer and even got the sim-bot opportunity, which I completed successfully, but when I tried to go back and invent what I was missing, it started glitching again.

During all of this, I've always had enough scrap, and even purchase maybe 5 new benches thinking it would help, but nothing. I even used nraas MasterController to level back down to 9 and try to build up, but still no use.

The only thing obviously different is that I'm playing Luck Palms for the first time, but I don't see how that would matter. I've got all EP's and all stuff packs, and recently got a bunch of things from the shop (worlds and items), but nothing from the exchange, so you'de assume they'd be ok.

I'm a bit obsessive, and it really bugs me that I can't get the 100%.

Does anyone have any ideas?
Are there any more details I could add to help you figure this out?

Hi Nets! The only thing I can think of is clearing the cache files in the game folder.

Other than that, remove all of your mods and try again. If it works perfectly, then it is a mod that is interfering. Re-introduce your mods a little at a time and work until it glitches. If you've already done this, then I don't have anymore ideas. Sorry!

I did as you suggested and cleared all the cache files, but the problem still continues.

The only mod I use is the master controller, I've been using it for a while and never had any problems.
I'm not sure how to disable it without un-installing though (which I can't figure out either), so once I figure out how to remove it and check it's not the root of the problem, I will need it back (It's seems to be my only way to trigger opportunities in China/France).

Hi Nets,

The easiest way to remove the mods is to move the Mods folder out from your Sims 3 folder.

C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods

Move it to your desktop, memory key or somewhere safe. Test out your game again to see if that might be the problem.

If not, you can move the mods folder back.

I've been thinking on this problem all day and am coming up blank as to what might help. I haven't played much in the way of Inventor Sims.

Maybe try a factory reset and maybe in a new game, if you haven't already?
