Stray animals stopped appearing
« on: January 28, 2015, 10:20:04 AM »
Hello,

All of a sudden, no more stray cats and dogs appear around my lot or anywhere else anymore.
I already checked the internet on what this could mean and all I could find was that some people have a lot of strays coming around and some have them rarely visit. For me they don't come around at all.
I'm currently on the latest patch and there are no mods installed. I have all the expension except the lastest 3.

What can I do to fix this?

Thank you!

Hi Oekoeloe,

I'm am not entirely sure if this will help, as I usually have the strays set to 0, using a mod. But there are a couple of things you could try:

Reset Town:

In Edit Town mode - Press Shift-Ctrl-C keys together to bring up cheat console. Type in:  resetsim *

Factory Reset

[This is different from a total-game reinstall - This just sets the game back to factory default.]

Move your Sims 3 folder to the desktop or some where safe, and rename it something like Sims 3 Current. Play the game to create a new Sims 3 folder.

Go To: ----> My Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3

If you want to continue to play your previous game-saves, go into the Sims3 folder that you backed up and copy over your game saves, files and such over to the new game to see if that helps.

You may want to read over the following thread for other important files you may want to put back into your game.

How To: Saving folders/files (Sims 3)

Doing a factory reset may help with the other (switching Lifetime Wish) as well. Though progress maybe lost, like you mentioned.

Hope this helps and Welcome to the Forum!! :)

Do you have pets turned off on the options menu? I think that stops stray animals.

I haven't experienced this glitch, so I did a little searching and haven't been able to find anything on the problem.

However, a few questions come to mind.

01.) Does this problem happen in a new game?

It maybe that the game has become glitched/bugged due to game bloat - game file getting too large.

If you want to test this, save your family to library or export them. And play them in a new game to see how things work out.

How To: Save Sims 3 Files From the Library (Exporting Files)
http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,20751.0.html

02.) Have you tried clearing your cache files?

03.) Going off of what Wawa mentioned. Do you have Pets checked in the options?

If you are unsure, you can check that by:

At Main Menu, click the 3 dots (...) on the lower left of the menu. Select Options. On the last tab (Advanced Demographics Options) under Population Control Settings - make sure Pets is checked.

Trying a new game to test, might also help with your not being able to stop the bus action as well.

Hope this helps, :)
