Magician Career
« on: June 11, 2012, 11:23:05 AM »
I've recently been playing a magician for the first time.  Yesterday evening he drowned while performing a gig.  This happened despite the fact that he had done the trick several times before and was in an excellent mood at the time.  Fortunately, I had saved right before the gig so when he died I just exited without saving as I wasn't ready to lose him after all the work I'd put into getting him to that point.  So I'll definitely find a death flower for him before letting him do that trick again.  And, Carl, you may want to consider revising this part of the Guide:
Quote
It is possible (although rare) for a Magician in a really foul mood, or using it at its earliest levels, to get killed while using the Box of Danger.

Thanks, MoMoll.  The funny thing was, Rhett the Renegade drowned quite early in the 3-hour gig and then carried on doing the rest of the show as if nothing had happened (even though he was a ghost at that point).  It wasn't until the show ended that the message came up that he had died.  I exited at that point, but I thought it was quite considerate of Grim to let Rhett complete his final gig!

Level 9.  And a Lucky Sim, to boot.  This is the first magician I've played, so it seems to me that it can't be all that rare for a magician to die during a gig.

Schip maybe he should have had the unlucky trait as I think unlucky Sims can only die of old age,or did I just make that up.

I found this on the Sims wikki but I have never tested this myself.

The Grim Reaper will also give another chance to Sims who have the Loser or Unlucky trait if their death was accidental, but will come for them when their time on the mortal coil is up.

I was tempted to give my magician in my dynasty the unlucky trait just to protect her during gigs but wasn't sure if it would be allowed under dynasty rules.

I did have the urge once to create a Sim with the loser or unlucky traits and put him in lots of dangerous situations to see what happens. You know like making him fix the computer while stood in a puddle.Pehaps inventing without a shower near by.

Yeah, I've read that too Ratchie, but haven't personally tested it.

I made him a Lucky Sim because I wanted to use him to try out the Casino and the gambling skill.  But he's getting nowhere with the gambling skill, as I've posted elsewhere - he keeps winning, but never develops any skill.  So between his lack of luck as a magician and his inability to learn the gambling skill, maybe I should change his stage name to Rhett the Loser!  ;D

That is true about the unlucky trait. I'll add all this info in soon. Thankfully I'm at the part in Diablo 3 guide development where I'm actually typing pages, so I'll take a break soon and get to some things around here.

It's true for the Unlucky trait, but not the Loser trait.  I had it happen in my old Dreamweaver legacy.

Grim likes those with the Unlucky trait: "Your antics amuse me and others, so I'll let you live for awhile" (or something like that).

William Fangmann has died at so many of my sims parties and Grim always lets him live!
