03/26 patch - new painting interaction
« on: March 26, 2015, 05:07:38 PM »
Paint from reference -- unlocks at painting skill level 3.

3 types:
Large Painting from Reference ($100)
Medium Painting from Reference ($75)
Small Painting from Reference ($50)

When you choose the painting from reference interaction on the easel, it opens up a new camera UI -- it is basically a camera and you take picture of anything you want to paint.  You can zoom in and zoom out, take a picture of just one person, a whole group of people, landscape, or just the plain old ground and paint whatever you took a picture of.

This is awesome. I imagined such a thing would require photography, so thanks for making sure I can tell those who don't own the Expansion about this feature.

Wonder if this'll mean bringing back the portraits for the dynasty ;) In all seriousness though it's a very neat feature that I'm excited to mess around with

I tried this - even if there is no wording to the option - and I found that if the easel is one room, you can not move the camera outside that room. Is it just me, or is it that the way it's supposed to work?

Yes, the camera covers your sim's range of vision. If your easel is in a room, you won't be able to paint what's outside. Also, the easel gets in the way.

Thank you, Marian T. I played some more with it and find the quality of camera-inspired paintings astonishing.
I'm now somehow hoping the SimGuru's will find a way for Sims to stock the easel in their personal inventories. Then, they can paint the whole wide world. How awesome would that be?
