Why do some sims live so much longer than others?
« on: March 15, 2015, 08:45:23 AM »
Hi all, sorry if this has been posted before. I couldn't find a topic about it so started a new one  ;)

I'm playing the immortal dynasty challenge and my second heir completed his ambrosia requirements. I got the pop-up that his days were almost over when he was around 79 sim-days old. He has a wife that does nothing in particular to lengthen her life. Also she isn't very active. Since she is the spouse she will die of old age. She is still around. She is about 104 sim-days old now and not that close to the end. My second heir has already eaten ambrosia like 2 times to stay alive.

Is this random? I know working out can change it a little, but the spouse hasn't done much of that.
I have the lifespan set on normal lenght.

Are there other things that influence the lenght of their life?  :)

I discovered that the females do not age at all during pregnancies.  Therefore, if I have one that has lots of children (without multiples), it's not uncommon at all for the husband to die before she even reaches elder status.  Maybe this has played a part in your family, too?  The only other thing I am aware of that impacts aging is the physical aspiration, and it's supposed to make the elder stage longer but not impact any other stage.  I'm curious, too, if anyone's seen anything else that influences the length of their life.

I didn't know that the aging completely stopped during pregnancy. That might be one of the reasons, although she only had one child. I guess it's also a bit random.
