Coo at and talk interactions for babies
« on: February 28, 2015, 12:02:11 AM »
I've noticed that sometimes cooing at and talking to a baby provide a relationship boost, and sometimes they do nothing for the relationship or it's a negative.  I'm not sure what causes this.  The baby doesn't seem to need to be fed or changed  when it provides no bonus.  Is it that the baby is tired maybe, or something else?  Anyone know?

My impression is that "talk" gives a +2 bonus, but cooing can provide a negative. It could be that the baby is tired, but cuddling seems to always provide one or two +2 boosts.

In my experience, the baby just gets fed up with the same interaction. Some babies like this interaction more than others. It does not harm to keep going, though. The baby will accept to be cooed at yet again soon enough.

I don't think it's that the baby is fed up with the same interaction, since my Sim's was been doing them all, but talk and coo at are the only ones that every aren't positive.  In both cases, it seems like the baby fusses as a response.  The baby isn't crying before or after the interaction.

I just always queue up a long list of interactions with baby so have never gotten any negative response.  I have mom go through all of them, then dad does them all except feed and change diaper is the last one in the line up.

That's what I've been doing too, except I only do the feeding and diaper change when they need it.  If they do need it, it's the first one on the list.

I've noticed the same. I often get negative points for coo and talk. I may have woken them up when this happens. I'll test more to see. But the cuddle interaction seems to be the best for building a positive relationship. :)
