Story Progression or not?
« on: November 01, 2010, 03:03:35 AM »
I have not been playing long, a week at most? and I'm current up to LN. My question is this for the experienced players? What are the pro's and cons of EA's story progression? My play style is I want to stick with 1 family and run it through several generations if that helps. I'm wondering because I have seen a couple of mods out there that change this.

Hi stryder67.

In my opinion, there is no question about it.  I always play with story progression turned on.  Without it, nobody in your town will get married, have babies, or anything else.

As for mods, we strongly discourage their use because they are known to cause serious problems in the game.  In fact, I'm going to edit your post to remove their names because we don't allow discussion of them on this Forum, per the Forum Rules.

The only reason I would play with story progression off is if you wanted to make sure the other families that you don't control don't change while you play. I do this in order to control an entire neighborhood, but most people don't play that way.

As for LN to be for experienced players, I think that's really up to opinion. By all means, I would say dive into the new features, there's no better way to learn. And you can always read up about it on the guide first, find the answers to your questions on this forum.

I always play with story progression on. As Pam said, without it nobody in the town will change, it makes the game more realistic and interesting.

Some like to turn it off, but normally for very specific reasons.
