Odd couples
« on: January 22, 2015, 08:44:09 AM »
I just had a pair of sims, both with Commitment Issues, decide to be one of the most adorable couples I have ever played. It was the oddest thing, they never wished to flirt with anyone else, as soon as they met each other there was attraction and they constantly popped wishes for each other.

Have any of you ever had Commitment Issues sims make cute couples? I sure hadn't before but I have now.

Commitment issues is only a bad trait for couples if you play them that way, in my experience. Which I often tend to do. :P

I currently do have a couple with one half having commitment issues and the other being unflirty (another possible "disaster trait" for couples), and they're just adorable. Most of their time is spent in friendly conversation or exercising together, which might be a much more realistic way for a couple to act after all.

I just find it hilarious because all they ever want to do is make out and watch the stars.

I was actually not planning on this particular sim needing to be monogamous. I figured he could romance anyone he wanted, as long as he got a spouse in the home to have a kid. (Life States Dynasty in the process.)

Unless the sim has the heartbreaker lifetime wish, commitment issues sims don't necessarily express it in romance matters, aside from needing a higher relationship to be willing to go steady or get engaged or married to begin with.  I noticed when I played Marc Brandt in Twinbrook, when I had him in a good relationship, he never rolled antagonistic or breakup wishes.  He did wish to quit his job more than once, however, and I noticed if he got frustrated with something (like when he got himself singed fixing the TV) he would roll a wish to get rid of it.  So it could be that a commitment issues sim is just less likely to stick with something that's turning out to be more trouble than they feel it's worth.

I have a couple where the girl has commitment issues. When they got engaged she kept freaking out. When her fiance dared enthusing about the wedding she started yelling at him.
After the wedding things calmed down apparently, because I caught them woohooing almost every day  :D Apparently she realised commitment can be good.

I let them mostly run free because i wanted to see how they would interact with each other if i don't interfere. So yes, i was a bit surprised by this...
