Fertilize Maxed and Perfected Plants?

If I have a plant to perfect and it's pedal display is full (as when it would have been ready to evolve at previous levels of quality), is there any good reason to fertilize it?

I was wondering this as well and can't think of a reason why you'd fertilize at that point.

The only reason I can think of is that while you are fertilizing you are gaining gardening skill.... if you haven't maxed it out already. Other that that perhaps it bears produce more often if fertilized but I haven't tested this.
