Marriage: No need to live with your spouse!
« on: November 02, 2014, 02:40:09 PM »
I just discovered that your sim can get married but not move in with their new spouse. After the marriage ceremony, when the moving screen comes up, just click cancel, and the rest of the process proceeds as usual, except no one has to move.

I'm sharing this info because it makes it easier to achieve the "Outlive 5 Spouses" achievement. It's also great if you want to keep playing that sim in your "main" household, along with the rest of that family, but want or need him or her to be married.

Kind of cool!

It's kind of weird. I think if I throw a wedding party after the ceremony I didn't get the moving in/out screen, which is really annoying since I have to ask him/her to move in, and that usually don't show up after marriage, I think. And if it didn't show up, I have to use manage world to do that. Or, Maybe it's just me!

I didn't get a pop-up at all during the ceremony, then when my spouse came to my house, when I clicked on him, I'm pretty sure there was an option that said "move spouse in"

Hmm, I must've missed it, After the above happen, I usually moved the spouse in before marriage so I don't have to do manage household.

I got a pop-up during the ceremony, right after they exchanged vows. It was the same as when you merge households. I don't have the option to "move in spouse" now though, but my current household already has 8 members so I'm sure that's the reason.

@armstras06, I think it's a bug. Or, it could be intentional. Ideally, they would let you choose.

The reason I started this post was because I enjoyed the freedom to have two sims get married but not break up a household that I wasn't ready to part with yet.  :) So, basically, I enjoy the freedom to choose!

Wish they'd let you choose a date for the events too like past TS.

I think it would be awesome to be married but not have the same household.
