My Teen Can't Cook?
« on: January 10, 2015, 08:19:49 PM »

I am noticing this now after a Sim week of playing. My teenage sim goes to make a salad and the money vanishes but at the same time the option for her to cook just disappears!?!? Serve Dinner- Garden Salad $12 and she can't cook it? I tried to reset her but that didn't change anything she still can't cook?  :o This is something I have never seen before! I know she can cook because I had her make a salad a week ago so... what happened!???  :'(

Can anyone else in the household cook? (I'm guessing yes because you said this had been happening for a sim week, but still, can't hurt to ask). It might not be a problem with her specifically, it may be the fridge or something.

Nobody can cook in my families. I've quit playing Sims 4 until the bug is fixed. After all, one of my heirs is a cook.

I had this problem also. For me repairing the game fixed it.
Open Origin and right click on the Sims 4 and in the menu that pops ups select Repair Game. Hope this will help you also. Good luck.

Thanks, grimsoul. I'll try that tomorrow when I play again.

This is the 'fix' that has worked for me on multiple times. It seems like this bug reappears after a while of game time. Easily fixed, if somewhat temporary.

@grimsoul, @Playalot...Repairing the game didn't work for me. I've also tried a factory reset and a complete reinstall. I'm at a loss at this point.

Hi Jude,

I was hoping a repair or doing a factory reset would work. Stupid question... Have you tried deleting all the cache files?

Delete Cache Files - http://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2014/09/delete-cache-files/

Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 >

It's safe to delete the localthumbcache.package file

- In the cache folder (Do NOT delete the folder)
cache –> *.cache (all files ending in cache)

- In the cachestr folder (Do NOT delete the folder)
cachestr –> All content can be deleted

Delete Origin Cache Files - http://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2014/09/delete-origin-cache-files/

I am not entirely sure this will help. But you didn't mention if you've tried it or not. So I thought I'd ask.

MrsFlynn

Edit --

Still looking into the problem. Have you tried starting a new game for testing purposes to see if you have the same issue?

Yeah, MrsFlynn...I did all that. After the sixth Origin repair, I can finally cook. Sheesh!
