My sims 3 won't update? Neither by launcher or manually?

Hello. I need to update my Sims 3 from 1.42 to the latest update. I need to because I want to install Sims 3 Island Paradise, but it says I need to update. I tried to update it, but there is an error. I tried to update it manually, but there's an error saying, "files not found". (I put the manual patch on my desktop, if that helps.) It's really annoying. What do I do? I have a windows 7. I have Pets, Late Night, and High End Loft (stuff pack) installed, but I need to update Sims 3 to install Island Paradise. Thank you. 

It also took a long time to install Sims 3, I've been playing since early December of 2014.

Hi Rose,

I would say try uninstalling Sims 3, all expansions and stuff packs you have. Run Ccleaner and it's registry cleaner too. The program helps clean up temporary files, internet cache files and other files that are left behind that are no longer being used.

Install just Sims 3 base game. Patch it with the 1.67 super patch.

Then install the rest and you should be good to go.

If you haven't though, first make sure you've backed up your Sims 3 folder first. So you don't loose any of your saved games or other important Sims 3 files.
