Party how to?
« on: November 03, 2014, 06:18:02 PM »
I totally fail at parties being a lone wolf in rl and this carries over to Sims.  I HATE making, having or going to parties with Sims, (and in rl!),  and as a result I really don't know how to have a party.  I need 5 Gold Star parties for my dynasty and no clue how to even begin.  So, would you successful party givers please tell me how to have a gold star party both at home, at a friend's house and elsewhere?

PS:  To relieve your minds.  I'm not anti-social.  I have a HUGE family and we all have great parties en famile.  Just don't do it outside of family, although I love having people come by to visit.
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

Honestly? Pretty easy in Sims. Put out something for them to do (i.e. card table, chessboard), provide food, have a music source (radio), and be social. Other than that, just tick off all the event's checkpoints in the list and you're good.

Hint: You can invite the people in your household as partygoers. Ticking off those requirements works even better when you do it that way!
A 1920s era house needing heat, AC, new floors, new drywall on the walls and ceilings, new bathroom fixtures, new kitchen cabinets, new water heaters.... The roof is sound, but why didn't I just buy an empty lot?

If you choose against having a caterer, I suggest making sure there is some food either out or in the fridge because often a goal is to feed your guests. Try to keep your hosts in a good mood and use the emotion lamps to complete some of the goals that require flirty or playful guests.

- Some parties require you to cook level 10 recipes - so if you cater it yourself you will need to have maxed cooking.

- It's much easier to complete with 2 or 3 sims in the household helping out.

- The card table is the best choice to have for games because some parties require 3 sims playing a game together.

- Use several funny interactions in a row within a group to get everyone playful, and keep them away from décor that gives other moods.

- To have sims dancing or listening to music at the same time, first engage them in a group conversation, then you can choose 'listen together' or 'dance together'.

- You don't have to complete every single goal. There are some goals you can get away with missing if you do all of the rest of them, so once you hit gold, you can just click on the timer to end the party

- You will need a bar, some form of instrument or microphone for entertainers, a dining table and chairs for your guests.

- There is some debate on how to give toasts, but for me it works once a sim has a drink in hand, and it is under friendly interactions when you click on the birthday sim.
