Can't Delete Fridge

My fridge is getting flies around it and my sims are getting the negative moodlet for something dirty in the room but when I click on it it there are no options to throw out bad food, or anything. I even told my sim who is neat to clean the house hoping that would take care of it but nothing happened with the fridge. I decided to go and delete the fridge but when I went to build/buy mode it says I can't delete it because it is in use by one of my sims, even though she is not currently using it. I searched the forums and I saw the suggestion of turning on the moveobjects on cheat to delete it. I turned this on, selected the fridge and tried to delete it but it won't delete. Any other suggestions?? Or is there something else I have to do to delete the object besides clicking delete on my keyboard?? Thanks!

I had the same exact problem. I had totally empty bridge which gave the moodlet, and I couldn't delete it. I made my sim open the fridge, and paused the game when she opened the door - I was surprised to see that there really was a spoiled serving of can soup inside visible, I could hover the cursor over it and see the item details even. o_o
(the fridge was supposed to be empty, really)

Anyway, I solved the problem by saving the whole household (family + house) to the bin, deleting the lot and then copying them back. BUT. Later I realized I should have just moved my sims to another house for a while, then copy & delete the problem house while they were away, and then move them back, because they lost all their connections & charisma skill when I put the family to the bin, naturally.

That's the only solution I can think of because the fridge really couldn't be deleted in any way... :/

That's my problem, I just looked in the fridge and it's a spoiled plate of french toast. My sim just got pregnant (again) and I'm going to move them to a bigger house soon so hopefully that will take care of the problem. Thanks!!

Was there any interaction to "eating leftovers"?  Then when the sim got the spoiled item out, just cancel the interaction and throw it away.  I think that has happened once where I couldn't do anything but get the leftovers out.  Maybe it is just a different bug then.

The "eat leftovers" option doesn't work because it's not recognized as a leftover, you only know its there if you pause as the sim opens the fridge and look in. I moved my family to a new lot and it brought the fridge with it in the family inventory but I deleted it just to be on the safe side, bought a new one and now everything is fine. Thanks for your help!!!!

If this happens again, try resetting the Sim it says is using the refrigerator.  This may free it up to be deleted.

Ok, I just found the easiest fix for this ever: have your Sim take something out of the fridge, so that the animation for him/her actually taking it out occurs (like telling them to eat leftovers). Then, while it's open, pause the game. You should be able to see the offending item inside (It was a bowl of canned soup in my case). When you do, simply mouse over it and drag it out of the fridge manually. Voila! Problem solved and you don't have to rip all your hair out trying to go through a bunch of hoops trying to get rid of it.

you can also turn on cheats then shift click the fridge select objects then delete and buy a new fridge, this works with any object (or sim) you can no longer use, ive had some objects i couldnt get any interaction on, so i just delete them with this.
