Maybe the gray items beside the chairs are décor items like folded up towels for the sims to dry off with.
I like that the corners of the pool are not squared off but looks to turn at a 45 degree angle. Not a curved pool but maybe that will come later. But might still make some interesting shapes if you can make it bigger than just the one block in the corner.
