Backpacks?
« on: March 27, 2013, 05:26:07 AM »
What are the point of backpacks? As far as I can tell, they're just aesthetics, no option to store anything in them or anything, but I could be missing something as De Arbol always seems to switch between wearing it and not wearing it at the oddest times.

They're just aesthetics but also a bit of realism. You can stop them from wearing it by clicking on the backpack in the inventory. I think I have noticed that the social groups affect how they wear them, Agnes was a level 9 Jock by the time I realised she was wearing it one strap, but I'm sure when she arrived it was both straps.

That I have noticed, I seem to be doing it at 3AM or a time like that (early to bed, very early to rise).

That makes sense, reminds me of a movie I watched recently (won't mention it, it's not the most family friendly movie in the world).

I would've thought they would function as some kind of storage space, though, even if only for the realism. ::)
Thanks!

Lol, I thought the same thing, I'm assuming it's the same film.  ;) If anything it makes more sense to me, instead of assuming a Sims inventory is in their pocket you can now have a bigger space to put the Bwan Speedster!  :P

Backpacks are merely decoration and as far as I can remember only "normal" Sims can wear them. The Sim I'm playing right now is a genie and can't wear the backpack - I don't know if this holds true for other supernaturals.

If you put the backpack in a child or teens inventory, will they wear them to school?

Vampires also wear them. I have only allowed witches and vampires in my Uni town, and they both wear them.

Fairies cant wear the back packs. Seems their wings inhibit it. Haven't tried any others atm

Werewolves can wear the backpacks too. I just it just depends on the occult's body (hence Fairies can't wear the backpacks because of wings.)

I would love to get rid of them from the game.  They are a real pain.  >:(

Haha, I totally agree. They seem to slow the sims down, since the sim can't wear the backpack and do certain things at the same time (like holding an umbrella.)

If vampires could wear backpacks before, they can't now. I have patch 1.67. This is my first time sending vampires to university, and neither of them can wear the backpack. When I try to equip the backpack on either vampire character, this is the message I get: Your type of supernatural cannot wear the backpack. My witch can wear it without any problems.

Way late but genies, mermaids, plant sims and vampires can not wear backpacks. I've attended university with every supernatural type including the plumb bot ( oddly they can attend university but sim bots can't )
