Tip on how to make a little extra money
« on: December 18, 2010, 04:34:00 AM »
Most people probably know this already but you know the books that Sims get to complete ops. Such as read so and so for work or school. Well they can sell for a fair amount of money. Plus seeing as you don't have to pay for them initially its all profit.
I sold one of Bronte's old school books for 845 Simoleons.

845? So, that is a good load of money for 'just' one book.
I personally don't sell them though. I more like to just collect them. The same counts for books my sim get from the timemachine. They don't screw up the spacetime continuum in my savefile, so I guess it's save to keep them. :P

Like Rachel said, I usually sell those books.  But in my Clan Douglas Dynasty, I kept some of them and a book from an Athletic career opportunity wound up being my founder's favourite book.  When I sent him to the bookcase to "read something," he almost always chose that book to read, even though there were a lot of other books, many of which he hadn't read at all.  Which makes me wonder - how do sims choose what to read?  The dynasty was the first time I've ever played a multi-generational family, and I did notice that most of the readers seemed to have favourite books they'd read over and over.  One of them liked to read the pregnancy book.  I wonder what makes a particular book a favourite.

You could considering making a new topic out of it: 'What makes a sim to choose a particular book to read?' If you won't, I will.
Still I first ask you now, because you came up with the question.

This is just a hunch, but traits would make the most sense to me. A family-oriented Sim would choose the pregnancy books first, a Hopeless Romantic Sim would choose the romance novels, etc.

That's what I thought too, but we are not sure of this.

Mine pull out that pregnancy book a lot, too.  And none have been family oriented since the founder, Carina.

Hey, that's a good one! Than also can it be that hate the outdoor sims will not read fishing books also, if your idea will be right.
