Kids and teens missing school

Haven't seen this problem yet, but as youths, they would head off to school.  I would look down a few minutes later and see the little icon flashing red and that my youth still wasn't grayed out.  I clicked on the picture and sure enough, the youth was standing at the edge of the lot, playing on tablet.  I clicked on the sim " go to school" and they finally went, three hours later.  When they became a teen, the same thing happened, only they would go to the edge, wave their arm, like there was a pathing issue and stand there.  I finally hit "go here" somewhere else on the ground and then they ran all the way back to the other side of the lot to go to school and of course they are late, like three or four hours.  This is driving me bonkers.  It doesn't happen every single day, but at least two or three times out of five.

That sounds like it's probably a glitch, to be honest with you. I don't have this problem unless my sim is otherwise engaged, so do make sure that you're canceling whatever other interaction they're doing when it's time to go to school, or they will keep doing that (like playing on their tablet or phone). I have to watch mine when it comes time for work or school to make sure that they aren't otherwise occupied, which is a pain, but that's the price we pay for autonomy, I think.

I don't have any problem with actually going to school, like leaving the house, but it seems when they have the pathing issue, they are saying, "oh well, think I will just stand here and play my table." Lol  Adults go to work right outside the house, children and teens have to go to edge of lot, sort of like two blocks over.  Now I follow them and make sure they go, otherwise, they just stand there.  Of course, I know how they feel, I didn't want to go to school either.  Ha ha

TS4 was supposed to deal with pathing issues, but I still have quite a few of them.

Do you have any vanished objects in their way? They should be going into the driveway (if your lot has one) to get to the "school bus" though.

Funny, I seem to be getting pathway issues, too, but not for going to school/work etc. I click an action and they wave their hand and shrug their shoulders, yet if I click the action again, then they do it.
I have noticed that neighbours that I built a house for and moved in, when I visit them, all four are standing on the sidewalk playing their phones, like they can't get into the house. Eventually my sim will go into their house, and they all follow.
My child sim would go to school but "disappear" from the front of the house, they never would walk a couple of blocks then disappear.

The house I am in that this keeps happening is, the one that is right next to the tree that goes to Sylvan Springs or whatever it is called, lol.  They go out the door, go along the path in front of the tree and just pass the fishing sign and stand there.  So I watch and if they are just standing there, I have to hit "go here", which is usually somewhere on the path and then instruct them to go to school.  Then they run the opposite direction, in front of the house, go across the street, down the walk a ways and then they disappear.  Kind of funny to watch though.  This is the only house I have children in, so maybe I need to go to another family and see what happens.
